Tires and rims stolen!

Tires and rims stolen!
I woke up this morning to find my 2012 g37S coupe sitting on blocks. I had the larger tires n rims which were part of what attracted me to this particular car to begin with. I am having difficulty getting Geico to assist me quickly and now my apartments put a tow sticker on it for it being an inoperable vehicle even though we told them what happened. They say the need to investigate since its a new policy. I just got the car 2 months ago and didn't have a license for 10 years so had nothing to insure. Anyone had this unfortunate event happen and have any suggestions. I filed the police report but now I can't get the copy until tomorrow and insurance needs that first and is already telling claims don't work on weekends, its Thursday morning that means they aren't in any hurry. Also, would like to make sure everyone knows that our rims are targeted by junkies to sell for 100$ in scrap metal. Replacement parts alone is $6k from Infiniti, its a shame I am out at least $1k for my deductible provided geico covers it. Has anyone had this happen and how long did ittaje to get resolved or what was the outcome.

Wow...I am so sorry that this happened. I do hope that everything works out for you and in a timely manner.
I haven't had this happen to me, so I can't give you any advice based on prior experience.
In the meantime, (although it will look horrendous) can you throw some cheap wheels/steelies on it so that your lot won't tow your car? That's crazy that they would pursue that avenue so quickly, especially after a crime has been committed.
Any cameras in the lot that can be used to help the police investigate?
Best of luck to you

Hi,
Sorry about your misfortune. At one time several years ago when our cars were newer in the market, this was extremely common. Not as much lately, but it's still not a rare occurrence unfortunately.
If you have a $1000 deductible for this loss, I'd recommend that you consider not filing a claim. The reason is that you can likely find a set of used OEM wheels and tires in good condition for around that price. Or possibly upgrade to some better aftermarket ones as well if you like. Look in the wheels/tires area of the Private Classified forum here. Or look on eBay, Craigslist, etc.

You can def get used OEM replacements with tires for that deductible or less and not hike your rates up at the same time. In the future, its far more recommended to run a lower deductible on your comprehensive and higher on your collision. Best of luck man, maybe invest in a vibration sensor or upgraded alarm for the future

Your apt building management should cut you some slack given the circumstances.
That said, while the statements above do make sense, comp claims are typically claims for damages you have no control over (someone breaking into your car/ acts of nature, etc). I really don't see it affecting your rates, but it probably makes sense to contact geico to find out for sure.
Wheel locks will deter the occasional thief, but it's way too easy to get them off these days without the key tool.

Thank you everyone
For future reference anyone that runs into this situation. I did end up filing through Geico bc to do it myself I would be had to tow it myself and then figure it all out plus I wanted to make sure any other damage was taken care of. I got brand new rims and tires from the local Infiniti plus an alignment was all the extra damage needed. I did find some scratches on my car which they said would be a separate claim with their own deductible. So I did some "negotiating" and ended up getting credit towards my deductible bc I told the lady I just got the car and now its messed up and so forth. Ended up paying $700 of the 1k deductible for $6k retail price for brand new sport rims and tires exactly like I started with. I then got an alarm with the extra tilt sensor and the 2way alarm to alert me on the keychain. I also lowered my deductible to $500 for future. My car insurance just renewed and actually went down a bit so know that u do not take a hit on insurance rates for theft. The thing that will make it higher is that due to the eviction he ended up moving and weird thing is though the area is much safer for crime reports if i were to update my address to his new place my 6 month premium would go up $200.

Glad to hear you got everything sorted out and didn't take a big financial hit. FWIW $6k would buy some incredible wheels & tires in the aftermarket.
Nice that your insurance premium didn't increase.
