Powder coating rims
What's up guys,
Just wanted to ask around and see if anyone knows any good shops for powder coating rims. I have my original stock 19 aluminums on right now and thinking about going matte black. I don't know much about the process seeing if anybody has any suggestions/have done it before.
Thanks

Slightly off the topic....What's the name of the color/finish on the new Red Sport wheels?
What's a ballpark cost on redoing a set of stock wheels in this color? $150-200 a wheel?

Thanks. Google is only your friend when one can be a little more specific :-)
I would like to redo my wheels in a darker color, but looking at pictures online does not help much. The finish on the new Q Red Sport Wheels is perfect, but the magazines refer to it as gunmetal (which has become the ubiquitous name for anything blackish). I don't think that's quite right.

I'm in jersey and shops normally charge 80-90 per wheel if you just bring them the rim with no tires. If they have to dismount and then balance then your looking at more. Anywhere from 500 and up for all 4. Most shops I know use prismatic powders. They have thousands of colors to chose from.

Going rate around DC is about $120-150/wheel.
Just saw the Redsport wheels yesterday ... went with a powdercoat color called "Ultra Black Chrome" (misnomer) on my G37 coupe wheels, and the colors were very close, only difference was mine had a more gloss clearcoat while the Redsport's were a bit more matte (which looks better IMO)

I'm about to do this with my old 19's in gunmetal, and it only costs about $100 to DIY.
