R.I.P. TSW Bathurst Wheels

Well, I thought I had a leaking tire, but found out my wheel is cracked. I don't recall any abnormal event that would cause the wheel to crack. The symptom was a slow leak.

The purpose of this thread is to make two warnings. First, my TSW Bathurst wheels were less than a year old and were not wearing well. The finish was not great and was chipping a lot. Also, the obvious issue of the wheel cracking. Second, I was running a 255/35R20 tire on a 10.5" wheel and I don't think this helped. If you are running stretched tires, realize this is a risk you are taking.

They looked good while they lasted... now it's time to move on to my third set of aftermarket wheels for this car...

I would get in touch with the manufacturer/vendor and see if they will honor warranty. I know a lot of companies are touchy about their warranties but if you have good customer relations with them then they should take care of things.

Yes, these are being taken care of under warranty. Props to TSW and Discount Tire on this. I'm just warning anyone who still hasn't committed yet so they can factor this into their decision. The TSW wheels are some of the cheapest rotary forged wheels you can buy, but this may also be their downfall.

I looked into so many different fitments my head is still spinning. This next setup is something entirely different, lol. It should be nice though. I'm not sure why I'm being so stealthy about it, lol.

Take a look at his build thread, it's pretty emotional, but everything is working out

I've only owned two sets of wheels. My first set of wheels were my DPE 2 pc forged which were battle tanks. I hit so many pot holes it was ridiculous and only 1 wheel had a minor bend on the inside outer lip. My new set of wheels are my Work Gnosis wheels and on a recent trip to San Diego from LA I hit a pot hole on the freeway so hard it rattled the entire car. My strut bottomed out and I immediately pulled over to a safe area of the freeway shoulder because I was 100% sure the wheel was done. Well to my freakin surprise there was not a scratch on it nor did I pop the tire
Just goes to show that quality wheels do hold up much better that some of the other less expensive brands. OP glad TSW will warranty the wheel and I don't think the tire stretch had anything to do with it.

Thanks for your experience that makes me feel even better about the purchase. I also don't think it was the stretched tire, but wanted to give full disclosure. The reason I don't think it was the cause is the fact that this one inch hairline crack was not started by an impact mark. Basically, this means that the lip being slightly exposed didn't cause it to hit a pothole or anything unusual. Also, the tire size I have was in Discount Tire's book of approved fitments on a 10.5" wheel.

Congrats on your purchase and Yea you won't be disappointed with them. Work Wheels are some of the best made Japanese wheels out there. Why do you think Vossen teamed up with them?
