Enkei Wheels on a 2012 G37S 6MT Sedan

I know this question has been asked dozens of times, but I still can't seem to find the best solution.

I have a 2012 G37S sedan 6MT. I have been wanting new wheels since I bought it because I am really not thrilled with with the factory wheels. I also wanted to lower it a bit to give it a more aggressive stance. Now that the factory tires need replacing, it seems like a good time to make the move (the stock tires only lasted 12000 miles, though).

Having read through many posts here and elsewhere, the Eibach kit seems to be the best approach in lowering the car. TireRack has a kit with springs and anti-roll bars that looks pretty nice for under 600. I'm going to do some more shopping, though.

My question, however, has to do with the wheels. Again, from reading around, 19 inch wheels seems to be the best choice. I want lightweight, rigid wheels that don't cost a fortune. I also want to preserve the staggered setup the RWD has. After going to a ton of wheel manufacturing sites, Enkei seems to be the best choice. I've narrowed it down to their RSM9 or RP03, each coming in at around 20/22 pounds (front and rear) with widths of 8.5 inches for the front and either 9.5 or 10 inches in the rear.

I went to look on TireRack, and it seems that for my vehicle, the only set of staggered wheels they have available for my car are Advanti Wheels, weighing 25/28 pounds or OZ wheels which not only are as heavy, but are kind of ugly (no offense to anyone who owns them). They carry both the Enkei wheels I am looking at, but only in 8.5 inch width.

Since I have no idea what the proper offsets would be, I called TireRack to get some help from their service people, hoping that perhaps they could get the wheels I wanted even though it wasn't listed on their site. However, the person I spoke to said that if it wasn't on their site, then it probably wouldn't fit on the vehicle.

Is this true? According to Enkei's specs, the RP03's have offets of 22 or 42 mm for both the 8.5 inch wheel and the 9.5 inch. Only the 22 mm offset is available for the 10 inch wheel. The RSM9 are available with a 30 or 42 mm offest for the 8.5 inch wheel, and either 35 or 45 for the 9.5 inch wheel. The 10 inch wheel comes only with a 43 mm offset.

Would these sizes not fit the rear of my car? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for other lightweight, rigid, and relatively inexpensive wheels? The Enkei's were around $600 each. Also, advice regarding the proper offsets with the Eibach kit would be greatly appreciated. I don't track the car - it is my daily driver, but I do enjoy, let's say, "spirited" driving.

Thanks in advance!

Nice cheap lightweight wheels that are 19 inch are the rays g35 forged rims. I believe they are 19 lbs front and 21 lbs rear. They are a little narrow at 19/8 in front and 19/8.5 in the rear. Offsets are 30 front and 33 rear, which will sit flush on a lowered g sedan without spacers. I'm going with this exact setup, I just bought the rims and am thinking of running a 235/35 front with a 255/40 rear. Not the widest most aggressive setup but that's not what I'm after, I don't need 275 width tires on the rear. Plus they will keep you with a staggered setup. I was going to buy the 19 g37 coupe rims until I saw how heavy they are compared to the rays g35 rims. Just a suggestion. Also, a +22 offset with a 10 inch rim on a sedan is way too aggressive and will poke out a lot from the wheel well.

Blnewt can certainly offer advice on offset... He's a moderator here and has studied this issue to death. The RSM9 takes a pretty studio picture, but photos of the wheel on cars is kind of hohum IMO. The RPF1 is old school fugly, but a proven quality wheel. If you're truly prioritizing lightweight over looks, know that the 18" RPF1 does fit over your BBK. Overall, Enkie has a great reputation. Your duckfeet are Enkie wheels.

For more style and offset options, while still very lightweight, look into the Forgestar F14. Name notwithstanding, the F14 is not forged. It doesn't read like your budget is allowing for forged rims, and that's OK... few do. Big money.

I feel you, OP. Anyone who decides to spend 3 to 4 large on wheels and tires all at once, while struggling with the priorities of style, size, quality and performance... That's not an uncommon problem. Coming from another 6MT Sedan, too.

Be forewarned of the slippery slope. New wheels leading to springs or CO's, leading to a camber kit, leading to new end links...

And Hey, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the site
Keep in mind that camber/toe kits will add another $500 (for the full set) to the cost if you lower your G, especially if you want your new tires to last more than 12k miles.

I'd look into SSR wheels, nice looking wheels that are lighter weight, clear the BBK have plenty of offset choices w/ several styles. Here's a listing on those
TreadDepot.com: SSR Wheels
and I'd go w/ this setup for 18s
245/45/18 F 285/40/18 R on 8.5 x18 +40 F 9.5x 18 R +45
For 19s I'd run 245/40/19F 285/35/19R on 8.5 +38 9.5 +45
For any wheel brand I'd go w/ the above sizes or a 10" +45 in the rear w/ the same tire sizing. The offsets can vary w/ wheel brand but keep within 5 mm of those offsets and you'll be OK.
Shoot me a PM if you have specifics and prior to ordering and I can help.
Also many wheels won't clear BBKs so you need to verify this prior to your order.
Have fun choosing wheels, it can be quite a chore!

Thanks for the Welcome! But I thought you had to call Beetlejuice three time before he showed up :-)

And thanks for all the useful information. I agree that the Enkei's are a bit blah in appearance, but when trying to balance weight, rigidity, and price, they really seemed the best bet. The main reason I looked at them is because the OEM wheels are also Enkei.

A absolutely love the SSR GTV03's, but I was a little concerned regarding the weight - the fronts on the 19x8.5 +38 and the rear 19x9.5 +45 are both over 25 pounds each, where the Enkei's were 20 and 22 pounds. I know the OEM wheels are heavier, but I was hoping to get a slightly better feel for the car with the lighter wheels. Do you think the extra 3 to 5 pounds will be significant?

I noticed a difference going from a set of sport sedan OEM Enkeis to a set of forged Rays. Also OEM but to the G35 coupes as mentioned above. I picked up both my sets for under $600 each set (I have an x and am running two squared sets). If you like the look I would say it's definitely something to consider.

3 pounds, highly doubtful. 5 pounds... maybe. I think the people who have the strongest opinion on lightweight wheels are those that were once running 20's for looks, then switched it up for lightweight 18's or 19's for performance. But they were also predisposed to be hypersensitive to expectations... which is always the case when we mod the car. People who swap wheels for the track will give you Hell Yes It Matters! feedback. But this is your DD.

Another consideration is the tires... some (PSS) are much lighter than others. And still another factor is tire width, which will also affect how you perceive changes.

My Vossens are heavier than the duckfeet, but the Michelins are lighter than the Bridgestones, while also being much wider. All in all, I'm preferring this setup to OEM in terms of handling and how solid the car launches, but that doesn't mean I couldn't be happier still if the wheels were lighter. Since wheels are so damn expensive, I'll probably never know with this car, having already crossed that bridge once.

I know its been a while, but I finally did it:

Eibach Springs, sway bars, and alignment kit along with SSR GTV03 19 x 8.5/9.5 wheels, wrapped in Michelin PSS 245/45 and 275/40.

Thank you to conkus, blnewt, Rockchester, and Rex for all your helpful advice. I couldn't have done it without you guys!
