20 Inch Rims

20 Inch Rims
If I put 20 inch rims on my sedan, will I encounter a big difference in ride smoothness? And will I have any scraping? I'm leaning towards getting 19 inch rims but would like your guys' opinions. Thanks!

While I was shopping for wheels, I was debating between 19's and 20's too. I kept telling myself I wanted 19's but deep down I really wanted 20's. I knew there would be a difference in ride quality and as my daily driver I didn't want to change my ride quality too much from my OEM 18's.
I'm dropped on springs and now on 20's. I must say it's not a huge difference in ride quality but it's there non the less. Maybe the quality of the Swift springs helps with keeping it as close to an OEM ride as possible...I don't know as I've never had other brand springs or coilovers.
I can also tell you the tire brand makes a difference in ride quality. I had Hancooks on originally and they seemed smooth. I had a balancing issue (not tires fault) so I changed tire brands to Bridgestone and found they felt the road more than the previous (tougher ride). The Hancooks seemed to have a less stiff sidewall.
At the end of the day, I'm extremely happy with my choice in wheel size and If I could do it again, I wouldn't change the wheel size but I would research tires better. Maybe Michelins are the way to go.
Hope this helps.
Edit: I'm running 255 tires in the front and 275's in the back. This adds more rubber making for a smoother ride.

lilgers, since you have an X Sedan you'll be going from a 17" wheel up to a 20", that's a pretty big change, your 20" tires will be 1.5" shorter at the sidewall so quite a bit firmer ride. If you keep everything else stock the change will be pretty noticeable, if you add lowering springs or coilovers both will add more firmness (w/ the lowering springs being firmer since you can adjust most coilover damping).
Keep in mind 20s look best on a lowered G, 19s would be a better choice if you keep stock suspension.
Good points made about tire choice and the effect it can have w/ ride quality.

And I have the Sport Sedan, so I have 18s at the moment with sport suspension. I think I may go 19s as the weather here is snowy and we have bad roads. Do you think 19s would look good on the Sport Sedan?

Not that it really matters but w/ an X the diameter of your new tires is much more critical.
The 19s look great on the Sedans, lowered or not IMO, just run the tire sizes by us prior to making the purchase if you're not sure on diameters & fit.

OK, on your member column on the left side it says G37x Sedan and would have the 17" wheels, so do you have the XS sedan or just a RWD G37?

But I am an idiot when it comes to cars so I have no idea about fit or diameters haha.

Hey,
i am running 20" 10.5 All-Around, with 275/30/20 on my X sedan.
Ride got a little firm compared to before, i am also lowered on Eibach Pro Kit, but am switching to D2 Coilovers this week.
Honestly, 20" looks really good on the sedan, i did have to get a camber kit since i lowered my G.

A staggered set would be 245/35/20 on the 8.5" rim and a 285/30/20 on the 10" w/ offset in the +40 to +50 range. A 275/30/20 would be a bit worse diameter but close to 1%, so still acceptable.

It depends if you go staggered setup or square, for a square setup on 8.5" rims a 245/35/20 would be a compatible size w/ offsets in the +35 to +45 range
A staggered set would be 245/35/20 on the 8.5" rim and a 285/30/20 on the 10" w/ offset in the +40 to +50 range. A 275/30/20 would be a bit worse diameter but close to 1%, so still acceptable.
Please post some pics of your setup, 275s up front on 10.5"+38s has to be tight. How low are you dropped?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your xS sedan does not come with a sport suspension.

Right now im not that low, still have about 1" gap between the tire and wheel well.
but will soon be on D2 Coilovers so will post some pics as soon as i do.
As far as having 245 in the front and 275 in the rear, on normal driving it will be fine, but if you go constant 85mph or higher, your AWD will over heat.
i had that setup in the beginning and then switched over to a square setup,
if you are going concave wheels, which is what i have, a square setup looks sweet.
