What happened afterwards? The only thing I remember was your dealer told you to go pound sand.

Tranny blowing up

Honestly it probably wont blow your tranny up.. If it bind then it will destroy your front or rear spider gear and your car will become front or wheel wheel drive depending on how it goes. Lots of Evo, wrx and speed 6 guys have done this. The diffrence in tire size make the tranny think the wheel are always slipping. The tranny is probably over heating because the AWD is activating at 80mph for however long you are driving. (no tranny cooler) What this can do it burn your fluid which will make it less viscous and then start to shread components.

so would I be able to run these tires if i were to say stay under 80 all the time? the light only turns on after i go over 80 mph, not before, no matter how long i drive.

approx how long do i have from when the awd light turns on till the awd fries?

I'll probably be switching to 285 in the rear soon though to fix this problem

An why would be be increasing the rear size?? You need to go the other way. Should be looking closer to 265's for the rears, thats if my math is right, I ran 235 fronts and 255 rears with zero issues, An was touch 3 digets a lot, LOL

Going from a 275 to a 285 gets the diameter difference below 1% when using a 245 front.

With your front tire size it could very well be better to go narrower on the rear, w/ the 245s the 285 is the ticket, funny how all these tire calculations work out. Good thing we have all these tire calculators as my head would explode w/out them

I actually just experienced this also. I have a 2011 g37x coupe with the stance sc5 rims 245 front 275 rear. I was in a series of hard high speed pulls but after 2 or 3 min of slowing down and driving at about 65 it turned off. I will definitely be switching to 285s
