New Wheels are Rubbing :(

Hey Guys, I need ya'lls expertise. I just traded my stock 19's for a set of 20" Niche Circuits, and the offset on the rears is pretty aggressive, poking out quite a bit. I'm not sure of the offset exactly, but the tires fitted to them in the rear are 285/30/20 and over large dips and bumps I can hear rubbing.

So far the tire doesn't show any signs of fender wear, so I'm assuming this is because it is rubbing the fender liner? In ya'lls more experience opinions, would replacing the rear 285's with 275's tuck the tire enough to avoid rubbing?

Thank you in advance.

looks like your poking out 1 1/2 inch. 175 would help out some but what about the rim? You can always cut out the liner if you like. that is what i did. And another fix is to camber it in. But then your tires won't last too long.

I might try and section out a portion of the liner. I don't want lower the car or deal with camber issues, I had enough of that ordeal with my old 350z

Cut the liner yet the bumper bracket off... when it goes under it will hit both pieces ... cut the liner at tje bend and go buy some short metal tappers and after you shave off the bumper bracket tap one screw in each side to secure it... easy ... you dont have to but its to just secure it... just helps after you shave it... and 285... damn... 265 would have been clean maybe 275...

wow your offset it crazy! you would have to down the tire size to 255.30.20 I'm guessing your wheels are 10.5inch!

Have the owners of many low g's cut/removed the rear liners and cut off the bracket to get the tuck they want? I know I ended up with some damage to my rear liner so I raised the car back up a bit to avoid any further damage to it but now am not fully happy with the ride height.

I lowered my G on Tein S techs about 3weeks ago and was rubbing the liner and rear bracket. I trimmed my liner but it was still rubbing on dips. So i cut/shaved the rear bumper bracket and dont rub anymore. Btw my rear tire is 255/40/19. I shaved the bracket enough to leave the bolt on but enough room for future wheels.

no need to remove the whole liner ...just trim at the bend and Done.. but to get low has its querks... like the liner and the Bumper bracket... no biggie... takes a whole 20-30 min to raise cut shave and done

best way to finish off your thread is to tell people how you solved the issue so that those that have the same problem later down the line can just see your solution.

I trimmed and area of the fender liner (area just within the arch) about 1"x12" and shaved down the bracket with a dremel and file, then painted over the bracket to prevent rusting. In all, I'd say the most difficult part for me was the hassle of taking one wheel off at a time.

Glad it all worked out OP ... and yes taking the wheels off is time consuming but worth it to take care of the new wheels!
