Need new tires for 2008 G37S coupe

I know I'm probably going to be given some crap for posting a new topic but here we go... (yes I did search the forum for answers but most tire threads are older or didn't apply to me).

I have a 2008 G37S coupe on the stock 19" rims. I'm at like 45000 miles and am going on my third set of tires. First set was the OEM tires, second were Yokohama Avid Envigors. Ugh...is averaging a little over 20000/set the norm? Seems pretty low to me but I guess since the tires can't be rotated it makes some sense.

What is the current top recommended all season tire that fits the 2008 sport model? I see lots of recommendations for the Continental DWS but those aren't made in the right tire size and other people say they are old and shouldn't be bothered with now. Then theres the Michelin P/S AS3 but those don't fit either.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread as I need to order tires asap.

I just got General GMAX AS03s, these are my first set of all season tires. They seem to be quite good so far, the grip in the rain is a lot better and a lot more predictable than the cheapies I had before.

It's tough to find matching front and rear sets due to the different sizes...

anybody have the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum or Toyo Proxes 4 Plus? I think i'm deciding between those 2 now.

If you want more options your best bet is to run 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear. Which is very popular to run on the 19" sport wheels. I run 245/40 275/35 on General G-Max and they have been pretty good to me for my price budget.

Depending on what tire you get and what its treadwear is, then yes, 20,000 per set might be the norm. Plus it depends on how you drive. And as you pointed out its a staggered RWD setup which cant be rotated.

I'm at 40,000 miles and I had a bunch of life left on the stock tires but had to replace them due to a nail in the rear tire, so I chose to replace the entire set.

I probably could have almost gotten 30,000 miles out of the stock tires. My mileage was 90% highway going at constant speeds. I'm on Pilot Super Sports now and am on pace for almost 30,000 miles with them, although I change to a winter tire in the winter.

For A/S, I would seriously wait a month and check in on the Pilot A/S3's. The reviews so far are fantastic.

Then theres the Michelin P/S AS3 but those don't fit either.
According to the Michelin website, they will come in stock sizes and a plus zero size.

i think i'm going to go with the Toyo Proxes 4 Plus.

only issue i see is the front tires are W and the rears are Y rated. Is that a big deal? I always thought you weren't supposed to mix ratings...but if both the Y's are on the rear and they are the higher rating (where the power hits the road) i would think it to be ok.... can anybody confirm?

Love my Proxes4 Plus, check out Tread Depot and ask for Andrew, tell him about this site for the best deal. Might ask him about your speed rating concerns, doubt it's much of a problem since the W is still over the Gs speed.

already talked to Andrew but forgot to ask him this. he couldn't give me a better deal since there is a $40 rebate going on currently.

edit: just a follow up... I called a local Mr. Tire and asked about putting W's up front and Y's in the back and they said it's fine...just don't put one of each in the back (duh). I also called back Tread Depot and they said the same thing. So i went ahead and ordered a full set of the Proxes 4 Plus. can't wait!

I remember him calling about the speed rating concerns, he actually talked to the guy that sits next to me who in turn asked me. Anyways, thanks for the love guys and remember I'm always here if you have any questions!

Shameless plug: Don't forget to check out the Niche wheel specials we have right now. We are only offering it to you forum members.

Where do you see the $40 rebate on the Proxes4 plus? I can't seem to find it on treadepot's site.

It's true, the all season selection in that combination lacks. The General will offer a bit better dry handling and response compared to the Envigor. However, I don't think they will last much longer than the Yoko (20k seems shorter than normal on that tire).

You may want to think about the 245/40 and 275/35-19 combo that many use to open more selection. Tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+, Conti DWS, and Bridgestone RE970AS are all made in those sizes.
