Hit a curb, tire damage, replace or not?

There's the damage. It isn't very deep, but I have no clue how thick the sidewall of this tire is. I've heard enough stories about people who have totaled their cars after one of the tires blew out, so I'm very nervous about this.

the question isn't should it be replaced, the question should be....would you feel safe driving on it? are you always going to be thinking about it while you're driving. if you answered yes to either of those questions, then change it.

how worn are your tires? are they relatively new? any cracking or dry rot?

only 4k miles on it. Is it dangerous?

Tough decision, Im thinking I would replace it. At what speed will I start thinking about that tire...50, 65, 80 ?

btw....with only 4K miles you might want to check if they have road hazard warranty.

An impact like that may not puncture the sidewall, but may weaken it. You'd be taking your chances with it failing at the worst time.

I would Change it out it being chunked out like that shows the tire got pinched and out the rubber it went. Meaning weakened the side wall..
Looks like a Sedan Tire too... but either way yours and Family safety comes first... Change it .... better to be safe than Sorry...

Sidewall or shoulder damage should automatically call for a tire replacement.
