New front tires for Coupe 19"s
Im currently running Hankook 245/40/19 up front and they are almost bald. im thinking about going back to stock size 225/45/19 up front, mainly because the sidewall is a bit taller, and i figure that will help out with the ride. im also thinking a narrower tire up front will decrease the amount of force it takes to turn the steering wheel and make turn in a bit more responsive. im running 275/35/19 out back. Am i right? or should i just stick with the 245s?

The side wall is about the same from a 245/40 to a 225/45. The ride quality would be the same. As for steering....WHAAATTT??? hahaha a tire of that little difference will make no difference in steering. Anything the 245 will hook up better in corners. Your steering ratio is your steering ratio...And if you are running a 275 in the rear I wouldnt run a 225 in the front.

its almost an inch in width difference. 8.86 vs 9.65. and about a 1/4 of an inch in total sidewall height. thanks for the input though. for some reason thte 245 is cheaper eventhough its more tire.

more common=less expensive
as for sidewall height and a better ride, it's all about the type of tire you put on there. when i went from stock 225's to 245's, logic would dictate 1/4 inch shorter sidewall would have made the ride less smooth, less quiet, etc. But that didn't happen - it actually got better. I was riding on the stock Bridgestones (summer tire 225/245) and went to the bigger General (all season 245/275)...much better ride comfort and less noise. and no difference in the turn in, maybe slightly but not enough for a measurable difference..
Just my observations...
