The OFFICIAL "I have a wheel offset / tire fitment question!" thread
#2056
Hi there.
I want to get 19" Forgestar CF5V on my 2008 G37 Coupe Journey. I'm unsure of what wheel depth and offset to get it flush with fender. Also, should I do 245/40/19 275/35/19 tire setup or is there a better setup? Thanks

Is your G lowered or planning to lower? Are you going to run in-spec camber?
Do you want to run even more tire there?
Since Forgestar lets you select exact offsets you could run up to a 305 width tire in back and 255s or 265s in front depending on the width & offsets you select.
For a lowered G you could run a 19x9.5 super deep concave in a +25 offset running a 255/40 tire in front, and a 19x11 Super deep concave in a +40 w/ a 285/35 tire in back for a nice flush setup. As far as brake clearance, this is something that must be confirmed w/ vendor. If the brakes won't clear you may have to go to a deep concave instead of a super deep concave.

I plan on lowering about an inch or two to get less fender gap. I want go with in spec camber, so no negative. I am going to go with deep concave rather than super deep. Is there any difference on offset between the two? I don't want to do any trimming if the wheels are rubbing so will these for sure fit? Will there be little room or plenty?
19x9.5 +25mm 255/40 deep concave
19x11 +40mm 285/35 deep concave
Also, are the tires long enough to protect the wheels? Or will they stretch, leaving the wheels exposed. I would prefer having the tires protect the wheels. Thanks again

This would work well at in spec camber (camber around -1.2 give or take) and have more brake clearance since they wouldn't be super deep concave.
But I would check & see if super deep concave will clear as this is a great look and would set your G apart IMO vs. deep concave face.

Those will fit well, as far as tire protection, both front & rear tire widths are a bit stretched on those wheel widths. Not excessive, but the sidewalls will be angled in to the road rather than vertical. Some tires have a protection rib in the sidewall so depending on tire model you may or may not get much protection there. FWIW I just avoid curbs like grim death, even avoid those great parking spots on the end w/ a curb on one side, and take wider turns around curbed areas.

If you went with that last combo you could run a wider tire set. FWIW I ran 245/285 (and even 295s for a while) on a 8.5/10" wheel width. Running 255/285 on the 9/10" set would give you a more standard mount. A +25 front offset and +35 offset in back will get you pretty flush without running into any rubbing issues.
Camber goes in an arc as you lower, so the lower you go the more tuck you will get. The camber arms will pull the lower section of the wheel in or out depending how they are adjusted. It's a bit hard to explain, but this arm is offset so the bottom will swing in or out more than the top of the tire.
Camber & toe are related so you need a rear toe kit as well as the rear camber arms to keep everything in spec when you drop. The SPC rear set includes the camber & toe parts but the toe bolts require that you elongate the toe slot w/ a dremel tool.
If you just drop without any camber/toe help your tires will wear very poorly.
And yes, it is a PITA to do all of this the right way, but better that you know this first

Just got new wheels, and I'm looking at running a 285/30/20 in the rear on a 10.5 +45 wheel. Should fit based on what blnewt is running, yes? My camber is in spec at about -1.5

Got a question, running a str 607 rim 19x8.5 +30 with 10mm spacers and 2454019 all the way around. looking for a taller and wider tire would a 2554019 work? or should i buy a different wheel?

Thank you for clarifying about camber and lowering. I can visualize the camber moving like an arc when lowering. You have been a big help

Looks like I am going to go with deep concave 19x9 25mm 255/40 front and 19x10 35mm 285/35 rear. Last question I promise How come you suggested the same 25mm offset for the 19x9.5 as the 19x9? Is one closer to flush than the other?

I currently run 245/45s in front (285/40 in back) and when the time comes I'll bump the fronts up to at least a 255/45 and possibly a 265/40 if they have that size in the tire I want. Not quite sure I'd go up to a 275 there.

So im running a 19x9.5 setup square with 255/40..im planning to run 265 35 but i feel like the rim is too close to my brakes..maybe im paranoid but it bugs me..question is can i run a 255/35 setup and maybe buy 3-5 mm spacers for the front?
