OK, besides looks, what am I losing by going from the stock sedan staggered set up to a squared setup, most likely @ 19x8.5.
Nothing really, get a bit more neutral handling w/ a square setup but running an aggressive stagger with a real wide rear tire set would give the car a more planted feel.
I'm running a 18x9.5 (on 245/45 tires)square setup, was running a 8.5/10" stagger before (245/2285 tires), I prefer the square setup, but my square setup is a lot lighter so there's that
And being able to do a true 4 wheel rotation is a nice plus.
My main reason for wanting to go squared is to be able to rotate to get more life out of the tires. I don't plan on tracking the car so I don't think I'll miss the added performance too much.
Like I said, thinking about going with 19x8.5 all around. According to a few post back, a +30 offset with a drop of Swifts should get it flush. I would really want there to be a very slight tuck once dropped... I think.
I decided to order some swifts and an SPC rear camber kit. Everything arrived yesterday and after a full day in the garage today the springs and new wheels have been installed. I'm super happy so far. Swift springs appear like the perfect DD drop. I wouldn't want anything more. I need to take it easy for a few days and then get an alignment. The wheels are almost perfectly flush with the fenders. Maybe just a mm or two of poke in the rear. That might change after alignment.

Ok, next question... Do I NEED to get a camber kit with the subtle drop on Swifts?
Ive been researching sedans as I am just about to buy, but then thought I might get a coupe if a good one comes up...
From research on this site for a sedan i was thinking 19x9.5 +25 245 tyre for front and 19x10.5 +45 with a 275 tyre for rear

Ok thanks, i was just going to keep an eye on the second hand market. If not - my no1 preference would be work meisters but the cost and 4-5 months wait make them not as appealing.

Was also tossing up on the profile width - whether to 245/45 instead of 245/40 and 275/40 instead of 275/35, mainly as i have a sore back and roads are rough here but i don't want it to look like a tractor tyre.....
Those would be good width/offsets for a sedan, The taller series sidewall would be about an inch taller. You could also run 18s (that's what I'm running w/ My Wedsport SA10) and get the same sidewall height running 245/45/18 and 275/40s, this would keep you real close to OEM diameters but still give you a bit more comfort. Might also look into the Work Emotion line, some nice looking sets that shouldn't have the long lead time vs. the meisters.

Yes i do really like the wedssport sa10 and work emtion cr ultimate but they don't do a 10.5 +45, still about 20mm away
And yeah, that's about as wide as you can go on them without fender work or crazy camber. I could run wider tires though,Ithink I could run up to a 265/40/18 (I know I could run 275/40/18s in back) but when the time comes for new rubber we'll see
They have the SA55M in a 19x10 +40 so those would work, but would be outside the fender about 10mm, but would tuck inside the fender edge w/ 255 width tires.

Keep in mind you will hit the steering knuckle if you go too positive on offsets, especially on 18s (the knuckle goes inward for more clearance as you go to 19 & 20" wheels), so that 19x10 +40 is about as aggressive as you can go up front. My 18x9.5 +38 has about 6mm to the knuckle FWIW.
I have a 2008 G37 Coupe Journey and I want to get new wheels, tires, and springs for it. My current tires have almost no tread so I figured if I'm replacing them anyway I might as well get the new wheels and springs I wanted.
My current setup is completely stock, except the tires are 245/45/R18. I believe these are the stock specs for my wheels: Front & Rear 18x8 +43mm offset
I've plugged everything into the tire/rim calculator and it states that inner clearance will be 27.4mm less and outer position will be extended by 23.4mm. I'm worried about that inner clearance. With the combination of lowering the car and the decreased clearance will this setup work? Do I need to find different wheels? Would I need spacers?
