Tire wear on AWD

Have other AWD owners noticed whether fronts or rears wear faster?

I just put my winter tires back on. Unfortunately, I didn't record what positions the tires were in when they were taken off. Two of them are noticeably more worn than the other two. I'm guessing that the rears have worn more, and put the tires with better tread on the back to try to even them out.

The summer tires I just took off are worn pretty evenly, and have a couple hundred mies of track time on them, so I can't use them to compare.

My last several cars have been FWD, so I always rotated the better tires to the front.

Sharpie makes a while grease type pen that I use to mark the summer and winter tires where there were mounted prior, I make sure they get rotated every cycle. The pen works real well on tires, easy to see and stays on over the off season.

I'm on my second AWD G Coupe. I haven't noticed any uneven wear of my tires. I have them rotated every 7,500 miles.

If you haven't been rotating, then the rear will wear quicker as most of the time the car operates as a RWD until it detects slippage. Then the front wheels start to help with traction.

That's what I assumed. The tires I use for winter only have 5k on them at most, so I was surprised that there is as much wear difference as there is.
