Tire rotation and suggestion on balancing

Hey guys

My 11' G37 just had 7700Miles on it, I had a 1 Year warranty which covers up to 15000Miles or 1 Year whichever comes up first. Bought in Sep 2011, so now I assume the warranty is up.

I did twice oil change each at 2000Miles and 6000Miles, during none of the oil change dealer told me to do a tire rotation or balancing. I've asked the service technician but their reply was do it at 7000Miles, are they suppose to tell me to do it before warranty expires?

2nd ques is if I'm doing tire rotation, do i also need the alignment or wheel balancing?

Many thanks

On balancing - does your car shudder or shake? Do you feel anything in the steering wheel? If no, no balancing required.

On the alignment - does your car pull in one direction? Does it drive straight down the road? Is the wear pattern on your tires normal? If yes to these questions, no alignment necessary.

Don't think rotation, alignment, and balancing are dealer warranty items. Don't think your bumper to bumber warranty is up for several years/many miles. You may want to check your documentation.

It's a premium service which Inifiniti granted as a gift

Just did the tire rotation today at America got tire for free.. didn't do balancing.

When do you suggest balancing regularly basis?

I rotated the tires, on my 2010 G37, today. It has 25,000 miles on it. When I bought the car new, 2-1/2 years ago, the dealer gave me the first 2 oil changes and one tire rotation free. It has been almost 18,000 miles since that first and only tire rotation, so I figured I'd do it once again before I put new tires on it.
The 2 front tires had 7/32" left for the thread depth. The rear passenger tire had 6/32" and the rear driver tire was down to 5/32".
I use a tire depth gauge to get the readings. All 4 tires are wearing even across the thread.
The manual states to just rotate front to back, even though the tires are not directional, so that's what i did.
My G37 is used mostly for long highway trips, so I'm probably getting better mileage out of them then most forum members.

I'm looking forward to putting on some Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires, but at the rate the original tires are wearing out it will be another year or so.

I rotate mine every 2nd oil change (I change my synthetic oil every 5k) so my tires get rotated every 10k. I'm going staggered soon though so rotation won't apply
I'd say every 8-10k miles would be a good plan.

^ Still doable, L-R.

If you get directionals, you can even dismount/remount the tires to opposite sides to equalize any type of camber wear.

Do the rotation...not the balance. Make sure they properly torque the lug nuts - EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. I have rotated, but not balanced the tires on my G every 7500 since new. Now has 27,000 and the balance is perfect and the wear levels is surprisingly good. Might get 40,000 out the OEM tires.

Be forewarned, Newt... I just had my snows mounted and am tossing out my rear summer tires. No more tread, and only 10,000 miles.

I thought the tire were a staggered fit and could not be rotated. My rear tire are larger than my front tires. Am I missing something? TVD01

That is exactly what I did with my 06 G35. Rotated every other oil change or about 6k miles. I got 47k miles out of the OEM Bridgestones(2 sets and had a set of Michelin on it when I traded it in).
I cannot rotate tires on my 2012 G37S

I know John, I can get a bunch more life from my synthetic, it's just what I feel comfortable doing, and 30 bucks isn't much compared to $5 cups of coffee

I got 19k from my Potenzas on our 07G, but they were totally bald. You must be having a bit of extra fun to only get 10k on yours (damn, that's only 2 of my oil changes, lol)

Only the RWD with the S-Package comes from the factory with staggered rims: 18" x 7.5" in the front, 18" x 8.5" in the rear.

True enough. And if you change your own oil, which you do... OK, Newt.

The summer rears weren't *totally* bald, but they were very nearly to the point of failing inspection, therefore if I don't replace them in the Spring, I'd have to do it by Summer anyway, and double-up on mounting fees. (And yes, I enjoy launching the car hard, so it's all, or mostly, on me.)

So.... two new Michelin Pilot SS for me come Springtime. And then two new fronts Spring 2014. It looks like staggered rims means I'm alternating tire purchases. Kind of an interesting turn of events.

L-R only. Depending on tire, it'll either be a direct swap, or will need to be dis/re-mounted.
