New Cor 4-Piece Wheels ***WARNING*** - Wheels & Tires - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club
Just saw this story on reddit. I am in no way bad-mouthing Cor Wheels. Just wanted to relay ONE SIDE of a person's currently ongoing dispute with that company. This may turn out positive, this may turn out negative. So far though with the current actions of Cor Wheels it seems to be negative.
TL;DR
1. Person bought Cor Wheels and used them at a track day. Wheel broke off and damaged car pretty bad. (Wheel was torqued down by course instructor, not a noob, OP was also using new tires)
2. Cor Wheels says will not honor warranty or help for any repairs because OP violated warranty by using wheels on a track.
3. Twist: Warranty on webpage was changed after OP asked Cor to pay for repairs. Previously it stated that warranty would be denied due to misuse, abuse, etc. Cor added text "track day, and competitive events" to list of warranty violation. OP screen-capped previous and modified warranty differences.
4.Cor then says that OP had wheels painted (he did have them painted at a pro shop) which voided warranty. (Could painting wheels in any way cause structural degradation? My thoughts are no... but what do I know I'm only a mechanical engineer) Edit: Cor responded w/ letter saying that paint would not void warranty, just track use.
5. Cor Wheels supposedly deleted their facebook page. I do not use Facebook nor do I have an account so I cannot verify this statement.
6. Dispute rages on.....

Saw this yesterday. Crappy of Cor to market their wheels as tack capable but in the small print of the warranty to say using them on the track voids the warranty. Fail on their part. Either they are track capable or not, you can't have it both ways. However the user did have his aluminum wheels refinished which could have significantly weakened the metal leading to the failure. It could be seen either way. However in the age of social media and users trashing vendors on forums, it would have probably been better for them to just replace the wheel in this instance and inform him that it no longer has a warranty from being refinished and track use and he is on his own form this point forward.

Yeah I read about this Jalopnik's webiste yesterday.
Yeah what's crazy is that the owner of the damaged wheel captured a screen shoot of Cor's warranty that they had listed on their wesbite before he sent his wheels in. After he sent the damaged wheel to Cor for evaluation, they decided to deny his warranty claim and modified the wording on their warranty webpage that now excluded "track use".

Another US made wheel company failure
I've been seeing this circulate all over so I thought I would post this over here: New Cor 4-Piece Wheels ***WARNING*** - Wheels & Tires - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club
And no guys, this isn't me who this happened to this time.
I also found it funny that ADV1 is trying to get sales in that thread now.... when over on m3post they still haven't proven they have their TUV certificate.
Only Japanese, BBS, or HRE for me.

i want to know the other side of the story. It bugs me when people come into a thread saying they know but cant say anything "public" but they can in Pm's?
Either way i read through 90% of that and expected more of a response from " COR"

That was an interesting read. I think what should be realized for all brands are what wheels should be used for street use and for offroad/track use. However, that definition definitely seems to be hard to distinguish with how certain brands market their wheels (as with the case of the company in question here). This company stated their wheels are for "street and competition use". Their definition of "competition use" isn't to the standards of what "track use" would suggest, as they state "track use" loads are much greater than what the wheels can handle.
I currently roll on a set of VMR wheels for daily street driving. The company states they are "tested to meet or exceed JWL/VIA requirements and are produced at an ISO-9001:2000 approved facility". As I am not an expert on wheel loads and properties, I figured the JWL/VIA standards would be good for daily driving. However, with more and more stories of wheel failures popping up, I definitely would think twice about taking some aftermarket wheels (my VMR wheels included) to the track.
