Suggestions on tires?

So guys, i'm looking for some new tires and I have 2 questions.

1. Best tire size for the g37S
2. Best tire brand/type.

1. I run stock 225/245 now, I was thinking to go 245/275. The kicker? I run stock rims and love them. I really enjoy the look of the stock rims. What's the largest I can go both front and back (with or without spacers) and have it work with the stock suspension/clearance?

Also, will I loose any handling putting spacers on my wheels vs no spacers? I corner pretty hard daily.

2. I currently run Michelin Pilot Super sport summer tires. I was thinking of going with the new MPSS All season pro tires at 500 tread rating. I know it's hard, but will last along time. My current tires only lasted me 1 year because i'm an idiot and drive hard everyday. I can spend $1400 per year on tires. I would have wife agro from hell.

What do you guys think about a 500 tread rating tire? It's still a supersport version, just all season. (I'm in silicon valley california so, it's rainy/sunny right now.)

Tread ratings vary drastically between manufacturers. A 500 with one company may only be as good as a 200 with another company.

As far as tires go, I have General G-Max AS-03's on my car and they fit the personality of the G37 well, meaning that they're soft and luxurious with little road noise while maintaining a somewhat sporty feel. They have about 12k miles on them right now. I doubt they'll make it past 30k miles.

I'm considering switching over to Yokohama AVID envigor's next. I had them on my last car and I liked them a lot. They have excellent traction and they're sportier than most tires, but not quite as quiet or soft as the General G-Max AS-03's I have now. The Yokohama tires still had plenty of tread when I sold the car with 30k miles on the tires. They probably would have made it to 45k miles or maybe 50k.

Tires are really tough because everyone has different driving styles, different road surfaces they drive on, and different weather conditions. Good luck.

I currently use the Michelin pilot super sport 300 TR summer tires. Going to a 500TR (also Michelin pilot SS) would make it a much harder tire. 45k mile rating. However they are all season. I was just curious if anyone has used them. My current tires have only lasted one year. I'm really looking for a real 24k-30k tire. Driven hard daily.

Would a 500TR hurt my traction by a noticeable amount?

A member on here has gone with 255/285 setup that looks very good. I will be going with that setup when I change tires later in the month.

I believe it is W0ady, with that setup.

Get the pilot super sport summers. just about the best street tire you can buy. I'm thinking of 245/275 also but I kind of think it'll induce some understeer.

He told me some minor trimming of the liner. 15mm spacers all around. He is on rollovers. It looks really good.

Gwhizz,

I have the exactly same color and was thinking of doing the exact same color scheme. That's so sick that you basically have done what I plan on doing. Did you get the black plastic dip? or is it actually paint?

Did your drop your car or does it just look that awesome stock?

I'm thinking 245/275 is about as big as the stock rims will allow.

I have been on the fence about de-badging.

The pictures that I posted belongs to w0ady. He is dropped on coilovers. That is 255/285 on factory wheels.
I believe that his wheels are powder coated.

The 245/40 and 275/35-19 combo is widely used and will fit fine. The all seasons will last a bit longer compared to your summer tires. Better ride and life, but at the sacrifice of some dry grip and response. Michelin's Pilot Sport AS+ would be the highest performance based option in the all season class.

I agree with the above poster. 255/285 might be a bit to large for stock rims. 245/275 is very commonly used.

Michelin's Pilot Sport AS+ tires would be great this time of year as well. Just don't try and hit corners as hard as you would your current tires.

from my experience on my old m3, i would also suggest considering bridgestone s04 if you are looking at pilot SS tires.

i have had both, and thought the bridgestones steering response felt better and had less sidewall flex while still maintaining a good ride.

they are also a couple hundred less than super sports.

good luck

what would yall say is the biggest size i could go in the front and rear with 25mm spacers and stock rims, because i believe 275 will rub.
