Calipers and Wheel Paint?

I personally think black wheels on blue slate looks horrible. The wheels themselves may look nice, but you have to be able to envision things and how they tie together. I also don't junk the red calipers on the blue slate will look good either. I'm a fan of the color of the car, but it's very difficult to coordinate other colors with it.

Agree with twothree....black wheels on blue slate will be very difficult to pull off. Only a few wheels with very specific mods can make it work. You'd be better off leaving them as is or if you really have the need to paint them...a light Gunmetal.

Those wheels were designed to look best in the original polished silver. I don't this black makes them look better. If you are going with black, I would go with something aftermarket and more aggressive looking. Black wheels need a compliment of mods to make them look good( ie a drop, tasteful body kit more aggressive offsets)
Otherwise it would be like a woman wearing 6" platform heels with a business suit.

As said before, maybe a medium to light gunmetal as Bref did, and it looked great. I just don't think this color pulls black accents. But everyone likes different things.

My G is blue slate and I had the same intention to paint the original calipers red. I even got the G2 paint. Until I saw another one...... let me tell you, it looks horrible!! Painted calipers HAVE to be in one piece, the original split ones are just totally fake if you paint them. Unless you upgrade the calipers, I would not paint them or the wheels. Just saying......

I also agree in doing them in a light charcoal, or light gunmetal.

Painted stock calipers have a more practical use, and that is to keep it from turning rusty brown. I would paint the calipers silver or black just for this purpose and leave the wheels stock. I think what the painter is trying to do is get more $$ out of you for another service. I don't think black wheels and red calipers are the way to go. Different strokes for different folks.

jon23 - After reading your comment I went back and even though I did not see the S (my sight is not at its best.....), I did see with more detail the front caliper and am sure it's an S. I do stand my ground in saying that the original calipers on the non-S look terrible if painted, but this obviously does not apply to this car. Sorry, my bad!! I have a friend who painted his in metal color, I agree with you they look great.

Leave wheels stock. Paint calipers Sunset Lemans color like the 350Z. Orange is the complementary color of blue. Or you could do yellow if you want a little more Vogue in your life.
