Free tires, worth it to swap?

Free tires, worth it to swap?
I'm new to my G and cars in general, so please bear with me!
I'll do pretty much anything to get the stock RS-A's off of my G37x. A good friend of mine had new wheels put on his 5 series and had to ditch his tires for a different size. He'll give me those tires, a set of practically new Nexen N5000 225/50/R17 93H tires for free.
Will the different size be an problem at all? My limited knowledge says no, but I want to double check that. Does anyone have any first hand experience on how these would perform relative to the RS-A? Opinions/other thoughts? I do quite a bit of driving in Upstate NY lake effect rain and snow, and I'm hoping to get better traction in the bad weather with the switch.
Thanks in advance!

It's a korean made tire, available at walmart.
IMO, you get what you pay for. The kia optima sx i had came with some sort of high performance nexens - what a joke. I associate nexen with junk. Ebay or CL them for some cash.
You don't specify what size tires your car currently has, but assuming it's a square set up, they'd work, but might mess up your speedometer/odo if the diameter is larger/smaller. Also, I think the minimum load rating required is 95 given the weight of the car.
Get some real snow tires for winter driving.

Currently have 225/55/R17. How far would they throw off the instruments?
I want to stick with an A/S tire. If these turn out to not be worth it (or plain won't work due to the weight issue), I'll spring for a set of Continental DWS's.
