Custom wheels - as if just choosing wheels wasn't hard enough!
Hey Guys,
Just an update on what i have been working on for my G37 -
After the demise of my poor Work Gnosis GS5's thanks to a ill-informed detailing company ( acid cleaner and machined wheels dont mix ) . . . i was approached by forge-wheels.com to possibly come up with a one-off wheel as something unique for my car.
Given i work in design and spend most days in front of photoshop / illustrator ... that was a dangerous thing haha...
anyway.. have been working with them for the last 3 months on developing a few sets of wheels / concepts, while working on a set for my G...
Have to admit it's been a very fun process - especially learning about the limitations of the machining & forging process, then coming up with something i am happy with!
Here are a few of the sketches & mockups i have done...
Initially i had the idea to make a modern / concave version of the awesome Work Schwert wheels... Then i was stuck on the legendary Euroline SL / Leon Hardiritt Ordens... but after doing some mockups on a g37 i ended up feeling they were a bit too sporty (although showed some epic dish thanks to the spoke gap) and the Schwerts were a complex design that would have been hard to get right ( seeing the asanti version of the schwert's it it a fine line between a nice wheel (work) and a cheap looking wheel (asanti) ...
... so in the end i cut it back to a tried and tested 10 spoke option...
Using styling cues from Adv.1 & some of the Work Gnosis Range, i have heavily exaggerated the bevels and spoke legs... (whereas alot of forged wheel companies seem to be going in a different direction.)
We are putting in all the final cad paths & cutting them hopefully next week..
Will post photos in here as they are developed!

Testing details the manufacturer supplied me :
The wheels are made in a manufacturing plant in California to Standards Testing Labs, Ohio. (STL) See Standards Testing Laboratories, Inc., Massillon, Ohio
The Forged wheel testing includes:
-Radial Fatigue
-Cornering Fatigue
-Rotary Fatigue
-Impact Testing
The wheels are tested and inspected with a dye penetrant, the tested wheels are NOT used after testing regardless of wether they fail or pass.

Very cool project.
I have always thought if I had the opportunity to do something like this, I would remake the '08 sport rims in 20's with aftermarket offsets and more 'concave.' Infiniti really nailed it with that wheel from a design perspective. I like your 10 spokes for the same reasons. Nice work!

here is a variation of my design, they are doing for another customer :
made for a step lip, much less dish/concave, with polished centre ring.
