I tried searching for this particular issue but no success so I created a new topic. So I brought my G37X into the dealership for its 30k today and they made a big deal about having the circumference of the wheels different. So I'm running 245mm tires around but the rim size is meant for 225 fronts and 245 rears. They are the stock 19". Is this really an issue or they just pulling smoke out their asses? I'm thinking it's the latter since many of you that have awd run staggered and aren't having issues whatsoever.

I'm not even running staggered and they are telling me that the bulge from the smaller rim will throw off the circumference and damage my transfer case.

What does everyone think?

I am severely confused. What size wheels and what size tires did the car come with? And what are you running now?

Sorry I'll make it more clear. So my current setup is follows:
Rims
Front: 19 x 8.5
Rear: 19 x 9

Tires
245/40/19 all around

So the dealership kept harassing me about the different size rim I was running on my G37x and if I don't run matching rim sizes, the circumferences will be different and I will destory my transfer case.

The car ORIGINALLY came with 18 x 8.5 all around with 225/40/18 tires

I'm in the process of putting a set of oem 19 in sport wheels on my xs sedan and mounting size 245/40-19 tires on them. I spoke to Neal at Tire Rack and assured me the circumference is the same and there should be no problem with my awd sedan. Your dealer is the first I've heard mention any kind problem with this setup and to be honest I can't imagine a .5 of an inch differance messing things up at all.

Are you sure it wasn't 18x7.5 originally? That's what came on my X with the performance wheels with the 225/50/18 tires.


Personally I don't think that small of a difference in wheel width on your current wheels is gonna affect the tire circumference enough to make any difference.

I don't see a 0.5 inch difference in the wheel width affecting the rolling diameter nearly enough to give you any sort of issues. But that's just my opinion.

That's what I thought too, especially when others that have awd are running the same wheels I have with staggered tires.
