Quick question on tire sizes

For 09 awd non-sport models (I'd assume the same tying for other years too), oe tire setup is 225/55. When replacing tires, would going from 225 to 235 on all four corners be an issue? that's with the stock 17s.

235s on all 4 corners will be fine and give you better road grip I think you'll have to go w/ the 50 sidewall rather than the 55 (which is better anyway) to keep your speedo correct.

I'd stay with stock size now that the DWS is available in that size.

If you really want to upsize, the best is 245/50-17 but choices are limited.

...also, if you use the same tires in the snow then narrower is better.

I'd go wider and no 235 on 17" should not be a problem, but 50-sidewall is def. better

From what Neal has said, upsizing from a 225/55/17 to a 245/50/17 (i.e. slightly wider tire):

1. Improves Dry Traction and Steering Response
2. At the expense of a slight reduction in Wet Traction.

The Conti DWS is the king when it comes to hydroplaning, wet traction, wet braking, wet lap, wet slalom, etc. However, compared to some of the other leading All-Season tires like the Pilot AS+ and P Zero Nero AS, the DWS falls a little short in the surveys and the testing on dry traction and steering response.

So it would seem to me that the DWS would be the perfect tire to upsize. Still a great tire for wet conditions, and its weaknesses would be improved with the extra width.
