tire rotation - dealership or local gas station?

Do I have have to take my 2009 g37x to an Infiniti dealership to get my tires rotated? I was hoping to take to a nearby gas station and have them do it for cheaper.

You can have it done anywhere you choose.
Some advice: have them acknowledge (in writing) that there is no existing damage on the car or the wheels before they start.
Don't let them use their air powered impact wrench for installation.
Make sure they torque the lug nuts properly.

The only reason I ever bring a vehicle back to the dealership is free maintenance and warranty problems.

Discount Tire ...

But I find my tires worn evenly without rotation. I have a RWD though.

+ 10x1000.
Tire rotation is a DIY if you have a place to DIY
I did my own when I had an X but with the S it's much easier now...

Edit: I should add that I have nothing against most dealership service departments. The Infiniti service dept I go to (if I need warranty work and for my free oil changes) are an excellent bunch. They always treat me great even though they are well aware that I get regular service maintenance elsewhere, closer to home. My Infiniti dealer is in a different city. My city doesn't have an Infiniti dealer.

Thanks everybody for your input. I'm just concerned that if I go to a local gas station, the tire pressure and tire mileage will no longer be synched correctly with my car because everything is computerized. (sorry, I'm a newbie with my Infiniti. This is my first luxury car.)

Thanks again!

I DIY the tire rotations (I hate when they use an impact even though you're specific about them using hand tools ), oil changes, cabin & air filters, brakes, and most anything else that as long as there's a DIY article on these great forums. Most of the maintanance items are very simple to DIY (ande you know it's been done correctly) and amazing how some shops can really screw up even the simplest of things

The tpms system is quite dumb on this car. In fact, I remember renting a maxima back in 09 that would show individual wheel pressures. Not so here, yet this car is supposed to be luxury. There's nothing to mess up other than not installing the wheels properly.

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion. Your mileage may vary.

I take my car to a local shop that does alignments (very experienced at this). I have him spin balance each tire as he rotates them, and align the car again.

Overkill? Maybe, but she drives as straight as an arrow and the tires wear properly.

I also have a rear wheel drive.
I use a tire thread depth gauge that reads in thirty seconds of an inch. If I recall correctly my stock tires new have 10/32" thread thickness. Now with 18,000 miles, the fronts measure 8/32" and the rears about midway between 7/32 and 8/32". The thread wear bars are set to be flush with the thread at 5/32".
I had them rotated at 6,000 miles for free, at the dealer, along with an oil change. It's been 12,000 miles since they were rotated, so I was all set to do it myself. When I checked the thread all the tires were wearing even and there was only about 1/64" difference b/t the front and back.
I figured it wasn't worth the effort to screw with them. I'll just keep on checking.

you can rotate to a certain degree but computer balancing is more beneficial. helps extends the life of the tires.

If you're not getting any vibrations, is there really a need to balance...?

On my 2012 G37S I was told at delivery that b/c the front and rear tires are different sizes to never rotate them.
