@Neal, what happens when a 245 tire is installed on a 7.5" wheel, which is then rotated to the rear of the car (which originally had a 8.5" wheel). The idea is to get a square setup with 245/45/18 all around instead of the staggered set up the car came with. How will handling/cornering be affected?

It's pretty common to do that. The wider front tire up front will help plant that end a bit more in the corners. A 245 will work fine on a 7.5" wheel.

Neal...would a 245-45-18 tire mounted on 18x7.5 wheels create too much side wall flex, as opposed to a the same size tire on 18X8? I have a g37x sedan with 17s and wanted to upgrade.

Does anyone have pictures of the two scenarios?

You won't feel, nor likely see, any difference between those two wheel widths. You'll notice more moving from a 17" to 18" than a half inch in wheel width,

The 45 vs 50 sidewall height is not a "measurement", it is a percentage of the tire's width, called the Aspect Ratio. A 225 tire is 225 millimeters wide, called the Section Width. A 245 is 245mm wide. So a 225/50 means the sidewall height is 50% of the width, or 112.5mm. A 245/45 sidewall height is 45% of a 245mm width, or 110.25mm - just very slightly less than the 225/50.

It's all explained on TireRack's site - look for "Section Width".

Tire Tech Information - Tire Size Guide

I wish I had 18" wheels... I'd go with the 245/45-18 for sure.

bumping this up because I have a similar question. I currently have 225/50/18's all around on the stock X sport wheels (18x17.5) all around. Will switching to 245/45/18 all around make the car appear jacked up (will the wheel gap appear bigger even tho it won't be)? Car is on stock suspension. Thanks.

No, you'll still have the same sidewall size, diameter is only off by .16".
Your sidewall is 45% of the width since your "new" tire is wider. Compared to your old tire being 50% of the width. Still roughly the same diameter though

Tires for me also

I'm gonna be buying tires also like Kromber here,in a few days, after reading these post , I'd like to know if anyone can tell me, is there any noticeable ride difference between the 245/45/18 and the 235/50/18 series. Kromber what did you wind up buying? I'm leaning towards buying Pirelli Cinturato P7 + based on reviews at Tire Rack. Does anyone have/had these on their G37?
