help with jacking point for 2011 G37S
Hi again. have the G37S, with the body applications, which I do find eat up some precious inches of clearance for using a floor jack (using Harbor Freight's compact 68053 1.5 ton).
I have considered using a pinch weld adapter with the jack. I have one professionally made (which won't easily fit the jack), and another made from a hockey puck (an idea I have seen on auto blogs all over the net).
A notched out puck for the pinch welds, which in turn sits on the jack saddle, seems like a great idea. But I don't think the S model's lower body applications are going to give me enough clearance without risking the body applications. So that means trying to reach in deeper to the frame with a compact jack, and try to avoid hitting the body application.
My question is per the attached picture, which was taken from the right rear of the car. This frame member is about 10-12 inches inboard of the right-rear pinch weld (similar on left side), and then about 10-12 inches north of the pinch weld. I cannot line up parallel to the pinch weld, because there is a series of plastic weather shielding bolted on to the undercarriage, directly across from the pinch weld.
Can anyone help and comment whether I can use this location to safely get the right rear wheel off the ground, without causing any damage.
Trying to get set up to put my new winter wheel/tire set-up on the car. But all that nice-looking extra plastic paneling has made this a little tricky to get done. Thanks.
