all season tire recommendations
Looking to replace the OE tires on the M35 (245/45/18). Things to consider is:
1. decent handling (not expecting or needing super handling tires for autox or anything, just decent all seasons).
2. Comfort - not looking for a hard ride
3. Quiet - not looking for a noisy tire (ie. RE050).
I was considering the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS pole positions or the Pirelli Pzero Nero All seasons. Any opinions on the two? Any other tires to consider? I was also looking at Kumho 4x and the Continental DWS, but read the DWS sidewall is too soft. Any advice is appreciated.

you said "not expecting or needing super handling tires for autox or anything, just decent all seasons"...the DWS sidewall is too soft only if you're looking to play hard...I've had them and they are awesome tires
970 is getting good reviews...but it's $40 more per tire than the DWS

I like the DWS from what I read also...just looking for real world experience from people who used them. I'm sure they are great for what I need them for. The Pzero Nero is a great deal now on Tirerack for $138 each. So wondering how those are also.

Will have to agree with the DWS. Many happy users on those at the moment. However, they are on backorder for 6-8 weeks. As an alternate I would look at the Yoko Envigor or new B-Stone RE970's. Call me when ready!

Thanks.

Nice dry handling, a bit more crisp than the Conti, can be rotated all around as its asymmetrical, and isn't really loud. If you don't see snow I would probably suggest it over the Conti.

I have the RE970AS on my sedan and the difference is night and day. I previously had RE960AS and I wasn't happy with them as the sidewall is soft compared to the RE970AS. I've only had them a short time but they are more quiet then the RE050s and don't have flat spots. I wanted Michelin Pilot Sports but they don't come in my front tire size but I'll definately buy they 970AS tires again.

Found out today (the hard way) that the OEM tires on my car sucks. Dunlap SP Sport Maxx A1-A A/S. It could also be mileage on the tires, but the tread depth is well within spec.
No crash, but a 4 wheel slide on an off ramp, fun but unexpected.
Looking at the Kumho 4X, because of past experience with that all season tire on previous cars, also looking for recommendations.

took Neil's advice and ordered the Pirelli PzeroNero AS from him. So far so good. Quiet, excellent dry handling. Hasn't rained yet so wet is TBD. Way better than the stock Goodyear RSAs, but I think anything is an improvement over those. lol

Good tire in the nice weather thus far, but haven't heard much winter feedback yet. It's been a mild winter to say the least so I don't think they have had much exposure in that regard. My $ still on the DWS for a/s traction at this point.
