Floor jack question for G37S
I have a 2011 G37 Sport. I just ordered a winter tire/wheels package from TireRack. The Sport version has the body applications extending below the doors. Will I be able to get an automotive dolly-style jack under there and use it without the body application getting in the way and getting crunched? Looks like they extend down a few inches vs. 37's that don't have them? Thanks/Alex

Can you post some pics of what you're referring to? Don't have the car yet (due in a month or so). If the jack does interfere with the body extensions, perhaps a piece of wood on the floor jack in a strategic position would give you the clearance needed?

What lip are you talking about? Do you mean the pinch weld? If so, that kind of the purpose it is intended for. There is a reason it has cutouts on both sides, this is primarily to allow it to be bent to some degree without affecting the rest of the welds on the sides. Are we on the same page?

I currently have a 2009 coupe s, previously a 2005 and 2006 sedan s. I have always put the jack stands under the control arms with no ill effects. Just need to jack it up a little higher. I never use the "jack stand" spot, always been afraid of bending stuff.

I've always tried to follow the FSM recommendation for jacking and support - but I have seen my fair share of bent floors and damage resulting from incorrect jacking/support. To each his own

I don't think anyone above understood your question. I think he wants to know how to lift the car not support it after it's lifted. Only one way to find out. Roll the jack under there, slowly raise it, and see if it's gonna hit anything.

pic of body application
Here you go (I hope this actually attached)-you can see what I am questioning, whether the floor jack will crunch that molding?

We have a really low profile jack that would work well. Also have jack stands.
The Aluminum Service Jack from Tire Rack features a Quick Lift System with two-stage pump and dual return springs. Go from 3.5" ground height to a maximum height of 19.5" in 12 strokes or less, even under load. The jack's lightweight, aluminum design weighs only 50 lbs. for easy transport yet remains ideal for heavy-duty, 2-ton capacity use. Wide track casters and wheels allow for easy maneuverability while a rubber saddle pad and foam handle bumper protect the raised vehicle. A 50" handle is included.
Lift Range: 3.5" to 19" (meets almost any application)
Saddle Diameter: 4.75"
Chassis Width: 13"
Front Wheels: 2.5" x 1.75"
Rear Caster Width: 1.25" x 1.25"
Weight: 50 lbs.
