rubbing?
Ok guys im a noob here just got my G37 coupe. Im trying to find out exactly what fits perfectly for our cars without stretching tires. Currently im running 20x10.5 rear +35 and 20x9 front +35 Tires are 275/35/20 and 245/40/20. Im scared of going to the smaller profile tires due to so many potholes here in Cali. i already bent one rim when i had 19's using a 245/35/19 so i stuck with the 245/40/19 size.
Ok here is what i wanna do and let me know if its safe... 285/30/20 and 255/35/20 would i rub? will i risk bending/cracking a wheel. ? Note im lowered on Eibach pro kit.
I only experience rubbing of some sort when i carry 2- 200lbs people in back. other than that no rubbing. but i dont know what im rubbing on it doesnt seem like its the fender otherwise i would have like cutting on my tires. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks

You're probably rubbing on the fender liner, all you gotta do is just trim it. I'm running 20x9.5 +35 and 20x10.5 +37 with 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 tires. Many people run this setup and shouldn't be rubbing at all with the fender liner trimmed. And yes you'll be fine with the tire sizes I listed, you shouldn't be bending any rims at all unless you're going over potholes full speed. I live in CA and I've driven over some pretty crap roads with these tires for years and I have had no issues.

I am lower than Eibachs and only rub on really steep driveways or very hard bumps. You should have no problems with the offsets that you described in your post.

I run those exact same tires sizes on my wheels which are 9.5 +25 and 10.5 +32 ... What brand tires are you thinking of getting?

So how is the ride quality and are they safe? have you hit any potholes hard? As for the brand of tires i kinda wanna be a guinea pig and try the Federal Evo595 in 285/30/20 and 255/35/20 if not then i might just go with the Hankook Ventus V12's. What tires do you run. i know some tires have thicker or wider sidewalls right?

First, how did you get 2-200lbs people in the back seat of the G37 COUPE? lol
I actually wouldn't suggest going with the 255/35 and 285/30 on 19's because your overall diameter will be much smaller. Your speed calibration will be off and you will have a better chance of damaging the wheels.
Like emyrl posted, triming your fender liner should do the trick
