Volk GT-30 Time

So its come time to replace the stock tires. Instead of buying tires for the stock rims and replacing the rims next summer and having brand new tires on the stockers I am contemplating just buying wheels now. This way I can throw some winter tires on the stock rims come November and put the summer wheels in storage. I have decided on Volk GT-30's in the formula silver color. I am deciding between 19" and 20". Input from owners?

The reason for my post is to see who has looked into prices for these recently and what you found. I have heard that they may have gone up recently due to possible discontinue. (rumors) Just want some help from guys with experience in this area before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advance.

BTW sorry for the essay.

Thanks guys. xlack I spend soo much time on there now that I am looking at wheels. Your car is actually the reason I decided to go GT-30. Thanks for the feedback. Any pricing ideas? I have gotten a few quotes but wanted to compare with some who have actually purchased the wheels.

back in the days when i bought it, I was quoted $3398 shipped (including centercaps) from a vendor here on the forum.

However I bought it locally and paid $3640 (including centercaps). Of course I'm not sure what's the price on them these days.

Also u gotta decide what offsets u want to go. If I'm not wrong for 9.5/10.5 setup u have these choices +10, +23, +24, +35, +37

if u go +35 +37 like most of us here u will have zero problems rubbing even if ure really slammed (obviously u gotta shave the bumper bracket off).

if u wanna go aggressive u can go +23 +24 but u gonna have to stretch ur tires, prolly 225/35/20, 255/30/20...

right now i have +35 with +25mm spacers and +37 with +20mm spacers so I'm at +10, +17.

thing about poke and stretch is u can't go as low as before.. thing about safe offsets is u can go really really low but gonna have the tucked in look.. u can't have best of both world unless wanna poke and stretch and be really slam and be rubbing like a ****.

it's ur preference

was quoted $4150 for 20.9.5F +35 20x10.5R +37. If i could get them for 3800 with centercaps I would pull the trigger. God $3400 would be great.

The poke and stretch is growing on me, but I was leaning more towards the +35 +37. dont want to have to deal with the rubbing of the +23 +24. KW V3's are next on my list, hopefully this fall.

Thanks that information is a lot of help.

Not much more to say here except that xlack got the info all correct! And yea go with the +35 +37. I've tried 15mm and 10mm spacers on, which made it +20 +22 and it doesn't really fit with 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 tires. You'd have to make a lot of adjustments and work on it a lot to make it really fit.

yeap 20ish offsets u need to stretch ur tires. If I could do it all over I'd do +10 and +23 with 5mm spacers in the rear to bring it to +10, +18. FAT LIPS FTW!!!

my camber's at -2.1 rear and -1.3 front and I DO NOT RUB at all. But of cuz i had to raise my car up from my previous setup 245/35, 285/30 cuz i was rubbing like a **** -- being that poke and low.

i do have a friend running +10 +15 BUT lower than me and doesn't rub. BUT he doesn't have front or rear camber kit so basically his camber sucks.

u can't win it all.. if u want aggressive AND slammed, ur camber gonna suck and/or u gotta rub like a **** (but looks wise it is gonna be godly ) i had my lip kissing the fender when car was rolling before I had to raise my car back up

if u want aggressive AND no rubbing with really good camber, u can't be that slammed..

if u go safe offsets AND be really slammed, u gonna have the tucked look.

The good thing about going +35 +37 is that ure SAFE. u can run 305/25/20 rear... or u can put on spacers like me and go aggressive.. or u can juz run normal like 255/285.. The down side is however.. the lip won't be as FAT..

I'd say do ur hw before u decide on the offsets. This goes for any wheels u gonna purchase. good luck!

on a side note, BlackJack's car was the reason I went with GT30s lol

I have 20x9.5(+35) and 20x10.5 (+37) in the Phantom GT30's. Bought them from Forged Performance back when the Phantom editions were first released. Oct.2008. I got mine for $3600 shipped all the way to Guam and with center caps, valves, lugs. All I know now is that they are now on pre-order status and price has gone up my about $100 per wheel. Unless of course a shop has a set sitting around. I think the GT30's design is a good blend of classy and sportiness.

I currently have 255/35 and 285/30 Yokohama S.Drives and I only have some rubbing issues with the bumper bracket still untouched.

GT30s really don't have a huge lip to begin with, due to how the spokes cover it up, so going to great lengths to maximize it is kind of counter-productive. If you want a lip you can eat off of, go for some Works.

I'm running the standard +35/+37 with a 255 in front, and 285 series tire in the rear. I rub on big highway whoops with Eibach drop, need to get the fender bracket looked at.

If you get GT30s, get ready to add 30 mins to your car wash time, they sequester water like a **** and are a pain to clean.

It's worth it
