How damaged were the wheels before sand blasting and coating

They were not damaged at all. Just some minor surface scratches and scuffs. The sand blasting removes scratches and scuffs, just not curb rash. My rims look brand new. You are essentially refinishing the surface of the rims when you sand blast and powdercoat them, removing most imperfections.

Look good MoonliteMadness! I am planning to powdercoat my S rims on my OB. Do you have any more Pictures? More in the direct sunlight?

Is the ride much rougher with the 19's compared to the stock 18's?

Nope...When I had my 2009, I had an x, so I went with high performance all-season tires. The ride feels about the same. I have a 2012 xS coupe which came with stock 19s. So now I have two sets of 19s.

Bronze would be a good color on OB, but IMO gunmetal looks pretty nice on black.
