TPMS problem

I recently installed a set of coupe 19s with TPMS and had tires installed at America's Tire. They reset the TPMS and the light goes off, but only to start flashing and turn back on after about 30 miles. Brought the car back and they reset them again and same thing. Light comes back on after about 30 miles or so. They can't figure out what the problem is. any ideas?

Off topic but what is your set up with your coupe wheels on your sedan? Do you have AWD Sport? Those are the wheels that i want on my 09 sedan! I've been wondering if 19x8 would work on my sedan all the way around. Sorry i couldn't chime on your TPMS problem though. Hope somebody can assist you with that.

I don't have the X. Coupe 19 sport wheels are 19x8.5 front and 19x9 rears.

Did you use tpms from your own wheels or tpms from the coupe wheels?

i thought one or more sensors might be bad, but wouldn't that cause the light to not turn off at all when reset?

From what i know, the 2010 G37 use a different sensor than 2008-2009. The part number for coupe tpms is 40700-JK00A, and it is interchangeable with 40700-JK00B, and 40700-JK00C.

In 2010, they switched the sensor to a different one: 40700-1LA0A.

I can't really tell you why they were able to program the tpms to your car. Go back and let them read the code from the TPMS, instead of just clearing the code.

On second thought, the 19 coupe wheels sensors are probably not even programmed to your car. The tire shop probably just cleared the TPMS trouble code. After 30 miles, the TPMS system does not receive any signals from the sensors and lights up. You go back, they clear the code again, then the process repeats.

The problem is probably due the incompatibility between the coupe sensors and your car's TPMS.

Actually, I just called the Infiniti parts dept and they verified that I do have part# 40700-1LA0A. However, he checked with the tech and verified that both 1LA0A and JK00C (which you say is interchangable with JK00B and JK00A) would work, as long as it is programmed. So I guess it doesn't matter which sensors I have, as long as it is reprogrammed correctly. This brings me back to where I started. It seems they reprogrammed the sensors, as the light does turn off, but comes back on after about 30 miles. I will check with America's Tire and see if they are reprogramming them and not just clearing the codes.

Any other ideas?

thanks.

That's interesting. Last thing I can think of is when the light goes off again, have the tire shop read the diagnostic code. You can do this yourself too if you want. There is a plug tied to the obd port. If you use a wire and ground that port, turn the car to the on position, the TPMS light will start flashing in a specific pattern. The flashing will tell you the trouble code.

thanks...i was really hoping to avoid the DIY, as it seems too complicated if I can have the tire shop do it when installing new tires. I might have to try it now.

so I took my original wheels with the original sensors back to AMerica's tires and they switched out the sensors and reprogrammed them. Again, even with my original sensors, the light came back on after about 20 min of driving (~15 miles). I watched them read and write the new program to the car with their scan tool, so they are not just clearing it.
