Question on spacers

Question....if I put 20mm spacers front and 25mm rear on my vert with OEM wheels & tires, will that throw wheel geometry off? Would something like that require a camber kit, an alignment...or nothing at all?

I just got spacers put on last Saturday and I have stock wheels with 10 up front and 15 in the rear I took it for a spin after and at exactly 65mph my steering wheel beings to vibrate. I asked the guy who I got them from and he had the same experience as well as other people on this board. I don't know how big of spacers I would go since you're asking a lot on the lug nuts the further out the wheels are.

I don't think you need an alignment or a kit, but I took the precaution and got an alignment afterward. Just know the vibrations are normal apparently.

What brand spacers did you get? Also are they hub centric?

They are hubcentric, Ichiba and the other is H&R (fronts and rears).

Spacers will NOT throw off your wheel geometry per se and you should not require any adjustment to alignment.

If you put wider than 10mm spacers up front, the wheels will stick out past the fender. If you add 25mm out back and none in front, the rears will be the exact same distance to the face of the fender as the front without spacers.

I have 25mm spacers in the rear only and the face of the wheels front & rear are spaced perfectly with stock 19" sport rims.

If the hub centric rings are not properly aligned or if the bolts are tightened incorrectly (they need to be torqued to 80 ft/lbs) and in a star pattern you may have vibration issues.

bschurr, thanks for the info. Basically, if I get hubcentric spacers, torque them properly and don't go wild and crazy (25mm max), I should have no vibration issues and no need for adjustment/alignment. Which spacers would you recommend? I'll be flying to DC next month and will pick up some, along with Kinetix HFC and few other goodies..maybe Eibach sways.

There are several options so do your homework.

I like the Ichiba v2 because they are hubcentric, come with lug studs built into the spacer, they are light weight, solidly built and have a good reputation.
