How safe are wheel lock lugs?

I see cars w/o wheels every other week on the street nowadays.
Seeing that wheels stealing is getting worse in new york.

How much safer are the wheel lock actually?

I saw a Sonata on wooden blocks a few days ago on Flushing Ave in Maspeth. All 4 wheels were gone. I also wonder about the safety of the wheel locks, thou I heard they can easily be picked.

if someone's determined to get your wheels off, wheel locks or not, they'll get them. they won't stop any knowledgeable car jacker unfortunately. but i guess it could ultimately slow them down? that or completely stop a moron from trying to steal them - might do more damage though in the process. for the most part though, from the images i've seen on various forums, wheel locks don't do much

i dont think wheel locks do much except slow the thief down. they know what their doing and they know what you have before attempting stealing them. thieves are smart, they do their homework before they get what they want

No time for the craigslist rookie moves... in LA they just take your whole car, with or without you in it, turn the news on lol.....

wheel locks will help, they'll at least hinder the thief. but like most anti-theft devices they can be eventually bypassed. if a veteran thief wants your wheels he'll get them if he has the right oppotunity.

i believe there are only 10-12 different lock patterns for most makes of wheel locks, so if the guy has all those he'll get the wheels.

If you have nice wheels, I invite you to park in NYC and let you answer your question.

Don't even need nice wheels.

I've seen many stock Fit, Camry, G, TL, etc on the blocks.
