Buying aftermarket wheels, what tire sizes?
Hey everyone I drive a 2008 G35X with the sport package. I am buying 18 x 9 wheels and I was wondering what tire sizes should I get? I was thinking 245/45/18, but that seems too thin. I wanted something wider. I was thinking maybe 275/45/18 or is that too wide for the wheel?

why arent you getting 19's or 20's?

I had 20s on my G35 Coupe and the ride was terrible, I felt every bump. I was riding on 8.5x20/9.5x20 with 245/35/20F and 275/30/20R.

i have 18x8.5 on my G37x Coupe now and the ride is so much better than the OEM 18x8 wheels... plus i went 30mm offset instead of the OEM 43mm offsets

245/45/18 you can stretch it

I might go for 19s if I can fit a 40-series tire one there.

^ 19's with 40 series would be perfect for a sedan.

Does that above mean you had to stretch the 245/45/18 to fit on the 8.5"?

Would 19x8.5 with 255/40/19F and 19x9 275/40/19R be okay? I'm scared the 275/40 sidewall is going to looking too tall.

^ The difference is only 8mm (a little over a quarter of an inch), i don't think you'll notice it much. Although, 275/40 is a bit off for speedo reasons.

I run 255/40/19 all around on 8.5" wide wheels, no qualms whatsoever. Your choice of tires will also play a role in how "comfy" the ride becomes.

How did you calculate the sidewall? Maybe I should go with 255/40/19F and 295/35/19R. Thanks for the help by the way!

255/40 - sidewall height is 40% of 255mm, or about 102mm
275/40 - sidewall height is 40% of 275mm, or about 110mm

Most common size is a 245/45-18. I don't see a 275 fitting up front either. A 245 will fit a 9" wheel so there's not much reason not to use it.
