Replacement Tires

My 2008 G37S is coming up on 40K miles and I need to start looking into replacement tires. I understand the stock tire sizes are as follows:

Front: 225/45/19
Rear: 245/40/19

I also understand that you can go with 245/40 in the front and 275/35 in the rear on the stock rims. I would like to go with the larger tires but I have more concerns on the rear because of the significantly larger width. Could this wider tire cause problems such as rubbing when you have passengers riding in the back seat?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Not unless you're slammed or have aggressive wheel offset.

Thanks guys. I plan on using the stock rims.

Any recommendations for tire manufacturers vs the stock Bridgestones?

I plan to get yokohama s.drives when I replace the stocks. They are fairly priced, and good performance.

Just had an interesting conversation with the dealer where I bought the car. They are telling me that the 245 front and 275 rears are not recommended.

Does anyone have any recommendations for tire installers in the MD area?

Neal,
Any idea why the dealer is giving me a hard time about that size? I'd also like to get a recommedation on quality installers in Maryland.

Thanks
Jim

Michelin PS2's the best you will love them. 245/275 is what i will be running this summer, stock height and stock wheels.. lol got 18" winter on right now.

How did you get 40K miles on a set of tires, are they the OE?

That's a nice sales tool... Most of what I have seen is around 26k to 28k average.

I make sure they have the recommended air pressure (35psi) at all times and ensure that the front end is aligned properly.

Dealer is always going to be against changing anything from what is sent directly from the factory. My feeling is that stock these tires are stretched just a bit. Going bigger can always create problems, but I think those sizes have been proven time and time again and are fine.
