Help! Wheels not clearing caliper

Hi all,

I ordered 18x8.5 Enkei PF01 wheels from TireRack, 6.61" backspacing, 45 mm offset. They're not quite working in the front - scraping a little paint off the caliper.

It doesn't seem like there's a wrong way to install these - I used the centering ring and installed them to spec torque (80 ft lb). Can anyone confirm that the above size/offset specs do not work for the G37S Sedan before I call and raise hell with TireRack?

Thanks.

That sucks. Did you confirm with TR that they would clear? They were adamant about what wheels would or would not work when I talked to them over the phone regarding other options.

I had new winter wheels put on yesterday and confirmed and then watched to verify they would clear the bbk.

edit: They certainly show them as fitting. Check your install and then contact TR. It unfortunate to pay that kind of money and it not work. I'm cheap so I'm happy to have just paid $550 for a set.

Yeah looks like you will need some spacers for the fronts.

If you look for 18" wheels for the G37S Sedan on the TireRack website, the PF01 is not listed as an option; they only list the wheels that clear the BBK.

Did you research these wheels before buying them?

I just ran a search with a 2010 G37 Sport Sedan and the 18 x 8.5 PF01 wheels show up for me at $320.

Throw a 5mm spacer on. You wont even have to do lug extensions.

Update: Tire Rack screwed up, and they're in the process of removing that wheel (w/that offset) as an option for the G37S Sedan. I called Enkei and discussed it with them, and noticed while I was on the phone that Tire Rack lists the offset on the website as 45mm, but the invoice lists it at 48mm. Enkei confirmed that available offsets for the wheel are 30, 35 and 48. So Tire Rack apparently incorrectly input it at 45 when figuring out whether it fit, and it cleared the caliper.

Long story a bit shorter: They are paying the return postage, and are checking to see if the 35mm offset is ok for the replacements. I know it will be, as Enkei told me there would be 12mm clearance with that one. It will appear to fill the wheel wells a bit better as well.

I'd rather not go the spacer route if I don't have to - I'd rather have a wheel with correct fitment without any creative solutions.

By the way, FANTASTIC customer service by both Enkei and Tire Rack. No excuses, just results. The Enkei rep blew me away at how willing he was to drag out blueprints while we were on the phone to compare specs. Tire Rack is volunteering to repair the clear that was scraped off my caliper, no questions asked.

Glad you got it figured out and hopefully it didn't mess up your calipers too much. Now I am confused regarding offset however, I thought the larger number would have given you a little more clearance.

Of course I did. You're seeing the result of their error being addressed.

Yeah, I thought the same, but I thought wrong! The smaller offset provides more clearance for these wheels.

It sounds like everything worked out well for you. That's what happens when you deal with big money companies, they take care of you and cover their mistakes.

I believe the smallest spacer you can get is 3mm.
