Ateq tpm quickset reset tool

Will this tool from Tirerack reset the TPMS on the G or does it still need to go to the dealer? Has anybody tried it?

Dang for 125 bucks its not worth it IMO. Especially when several tire places will do it for free or very little charge.

Depends how often you need to do it. For those that switch between winter and summer tires every year, it would likely pay for itself pretty quickly.

The ATEQ TPM QuickSet Reset Tool is a valuable tool to reset a vehicle's Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) when replacing sensors or swapping tire sets, for instance, from a summer Tire & Wheel Package to a winter package. Additionally, the tool's "swapping tires" function assists the user in tracking and recording the TPM sensor information after rotating tires. Perfect for the track, too!

Features:

Compatible with future applications (upgradable online)
Advanced stream decoding for faster signal recognition
OBDII plug-in extension cable
Easy, step-by-step instructions
Tire rotation tracking and recording
Save and restore old tire configuration
The PC software (included) provides easy, step-by-step instructions for reset without requiring a visit to your service center or dealership.

Basic Instructions for Use:

Load software and follow on screen instructions
Plug the QuickSet tool into the vehicle's on-board diagnostic port (OBDII port located under the dash above the pedals) to download the current sensor ID codes the vehicle is monitoring.
Connect the QuickSet tool to the PC and enter in the second set of sensor ID codes.
Using the "winter" and "summer" buttons on the QuickSet tool, you are now able to switch back and forth between two sets of wheels when you plug the QuickSet tool into the vehicle's OBDII port.
IMPORTANT: The QuickSet Reset Tool can only reset the TPMS on four vehicles. More than four vehicles cannot be added nor can vehicles be removed from the tool or its software. If five or more vehicles need to be reset, an additional QuickSet Reset Tool will need to be purchased.

Download complete user manual. (PDF)

Recommended PC System Configuration:

Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (not compatible with Apple/Mac computers)
Processor: Pentium ≥ 333 MHz (or faster)
RAM: 512 MB (or above)
Hard Disk Space: ≥ 30 MB
USB Port: USB 2.0 (required)

I was under the impression that TPMS doesn't need to be reset if you just use the same ones between tires.

If you have 2 sets of TPMS, you still wouldn't need to reset them each time you mount the tires.

That's correct.

Will work perfectly fine. Sort of pays for itself after going to the dealer twice a season to have them do it. Call me if interested.

Neal,

I thought you did not sell this tool anymore???

FYI to others...if you have two sets of tires, one for 3 seasons and one for winter use, you absolutely cannot just switch tires back and forth and NOT have your TPMS light come on. It will come on unless the new sensors are registered to the ECM and relearned too....Nissan and other Asian vehicles are twice the PITA than American vehicles with the TPMS procedure.

The Quickset did not turn out to be as reliable as we would have liked. We take pride in selling products and fitments that work 100% of the time. The Quickset, unfortunately, did not meet that criteria.
