Question about downsizing tire size for winter
want to use 17" winter wheels/tyres on my 2010 XS Sedan due to cheaper cost. What's the optimal tire dimension? I saw on the forum another user is using 225/55/R17. The OEM tyres are 225/50/R18.
Tire Rack gives me these options but I don't know which one would be "best" for winter:
Original Equipment Wheel Diameter: 17"
17" Recommended: 225/55-17
17" Alternate: 215/55-17
Original Equipment Wheel Diameter: 18"
18" Recommended: 225/50-18
18" Alternate Front:
18" Alternate Rear: 225/50-18
245/45-18
thanks

225/55 r 17
Is the closest you will get for diameter at approximately 0.42 % faster.
So with stock 18 inch wheel at 60 mph the 225/55 R 17 comes in at 60.2 mph actual...
The best size you can get in a 17 tire to match diameter.

I scored a used set of American Racing rims and Blizzak LM60's on the weekend from a neighbor that just traded his G on a pathfinder (hockey dad now).
Had researched it to death and the 225/55r 17 was the tire to get which is what he had.
Got it all for under a grand up here in Ontario Canada which is definately a deal for us.
They're on and I'm ready to try out the G37XS in the snow when it arrives...
