those of you with 19s and stock non sport suspension
how is your ride quality? will it be a significant compromise in ride quality if i go from base 17s to 19s with stock non sport suspension?
tire size would be 245-40-19

Whenever you go to a lower profile tire the ride quality is going to suffer...

With all the cars I have owned, whenever I go up in size or two over the stock wheels I always notice a significant change in the ride quality at first. After a couple weeks it seems normal.
If one of your main reasons you purchased your G was due to ride quality, then I would tell you not to upgrade your wheels because there is def a difference. Its the same as people saying the ride quality is the same after lowering your vehicle....

one of the big reason why i got the G was for comfort. i came from an audi that was lowered with low profile wheels and stuff and it was giving me a headache. I know ride quality will suffer, but i was curious about how much. since stock has 19s as an option, could it be that unbearable? i just dont want the harsh jolt feeling going over bumps and road imperfections. my other option was going to stock sport 18s. just trying to decide which is a better option. thx.

I've also got 245/35/20s and I prefer the feel of being more connected to the road. The stock 17s are so crappy (Goodyear RS-As) w/ such poor sidewalls the G felt very disconnected. Sure the ride is a bit jolty when you hit larger road imperfections but for the most part it's not bad at all. 19s would probably be the ideal size for comfort w/ good road feel.

First off, level of comfort is very subjective on the individual.
I am currently on aftermarket 19s wrapped in 245/40 19's lowered on H&R sport springs on stock non-sport OEM shocks. I feel that the ride quality definitely suffers especially with the under-dampening of the OEM shocks (I plan to upgrade to aftermarket shocks once they become available). Although I feel that the comfort level decreased, handling of the car has improved overall. So you gain some and lose some in that aspect. Also IMO the ride quality is noticeably worse but definitely tolerable.
To me, Performance > Comfort

rims
I have the X and had TIS 22"x8.5 +42 w/ 255/30/22 looks best and ride not too bad but very scary cause of pot holes. little heavy and slow at start.
now i'm having 19" w/245/40/19 ride was a little firmer and better corner than stock but still a good ride. but plan to go 20" w/245/40/20.
I'm having my rims shop so i can try, change and resale whenever i want.
check out the pics in my garage.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

that's stock supension? Looks really good! I've been looking to get the 19S rims, for my 37Xsedan, but I always thought that without a drop on the sedan it would look VERY "4x4 esque" Yours looks fine...for stock - especially if you live in bad winter area...I'm def onboard now! NICE RIDE!
