I was thinking about going with the rear tire size on all 4 wheels.

Has anyone tried 245/40-19 on all four?

Would I get a "rim protection" effect at drive-thru curbs?

Any effect on handling?

I am using this size on all 4, but my coupe is X and 7AT. No negative effects besides better handling than stock.

interesting, i'm considering the same. alright, no offense to the ^ post, but his x negates him from this thread lol . having all 4 tires sizes all around aka non-staggered, won't do any harm, at least from what i can understand. you might suffer a LITTLE bit in mpg, but no mechanic issues. but wider rear tires on a 328 hp car isn't just for looks...

I like S snobs opinions but would be interesting to know why ^^ thinks it would make any difference especially when OP is asking about "curb effect".

it matters because, an example, putting 245's on a 9 inch rim is fine, but putting 245's on a 10.5 rim would be a stretched set up. The rim lips will be very exposed on the 10.5 rim thus making it prone to more damage when hitting a curb.

It would fit. I think there are people who put 245's on the stock front wheels and upgrade the rears to 275's.

I wouldn't do it.. sounds weird.

If you drive hard, it would change the balance of the car to make it rear happy. However, this car is really REALLY hard to spin out unless you do something spectacularly wrong....

I run non-staggered on the stock sport rims for winter setup. Honestly, there is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy little difference and my tire wear over 5,000 miles was dead even across the board.

I only run this for winter only because I found a great deal on two sets that happen to be the same size (245/40/19) - Threw em on and it worked out perfectly.

Thats what I run and it's perfect. Better grip, balance and even a better ride quality. Gas mileage hasn't gone down either.

I'm glad to hear it's working out for you, especially, that your gas mileage hasn't gone down. My G37S coupe has about 8k miles on it, but when the tires wear out I'm gonna replace them with the same size you're running.

Currently the car's handling is quite good, but I want even better grip on tight twisties where the car loses grip sooner that I would like.
