Question Tire size question

Hi guys,

I have installed not too far away VOLK GT30's 20inches.

I wanna know something about tire size.

Is it okay if i run this setup?

Front: 245/35ZR20
Rear: 285/25ZR20

or it's best to run on this setup?

Front: 245/35ZR20
Rear: 258/30ZR20

which one is best or it doesn't matter what tire size should be in the front and the back and it would not affect my car negatively.

The reason I'm changing the size in the rear cause I need to drop it and I wanna know which is best for a drop without having any problems.

I also consider the looks of the car really matter. Most likely I'm going for the second setup rather than the first. cause it would look good. I don't know how the car will look with the first setup. It might just look ugly in my opinion since the front tire is bigger than the rear in the wall size.

What do you think guys? please help from those who knows about tires.

I would run 245/35 and 285/30. That is going to be your best and most common setup.

I have never seen anyone running 245/35 and 285/25...I'm sure it would work, but the other will be better and easier

You can run most any size that will fit your wheels and fender. However if you are trying to maintain a circumference/diameter that is closest to the stock size of the sport wheels, then 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 is the closest possible. Keeping the stock circumference diameter of your wheel and tire combo is more important to some than others who care mostly about looks rather than performance. It allows ABS and VDC systems to function properly. It keeps your speedometer more accurate. It keeps the suspension geometry closer to stock and makes the car handle as intended when set up to factory suspension specs. But since you changed wheel diameter an width, it still wont be exactly like stock. That's not necessarily bad.

A 25 series rear tire has a very short sidewall that will be a rough ride, and you could more easily damage your TPMS (if you keep them) when hitting a big pot hole.

You can play with sizes and see the differences here:

+1. That's what we recommend. Good selection of tires in that size also.

My xs sedan came with 4x 225/50/18.. that means I should stick to that for my winter tires right? How come some models have the different sizes for the front and rear?

Yeah, I'd stay with the 225's. It's the narrowest 18" option for that car. Some cars come staggered to help increase handling/reduce over steer.
