Powder Coating...the good..bad..and costs?

Wats up guys. I was thinking of powder coating my rims and would like to ask anyone who has gotten it done how their experience was. I have the factory sport rims so any idea how much it would cost? (hoping to get a ballpark figure so I know what to look for. Thanks)

PC'ing is the way to go if you want durability.

I was quoted $250 for the sport 19's

Most powdercoating places do not have a low temp process that will not compromise the strength of a rim. Choose carefully.

wheels of america seem to come recommended by custom shops near me. you will regret painting your wheels as they will chip easily.

when shopping for prices, remember that you have to also account for dismounting the tire then mounting and balance again after.

mine were kind of expensive.(they were originally chrome)
$550 for 20' 2 pc rims.
$130 for centercaps painted.
p/c is very durable,(mine are covered for 1 yr)
negatives (none so far)
as someone mentioned earlier, if you paint them expect paint chips.
never realized how much abuse the wheels get just from potholes, road debris etc.

I've had my sport rims powdercoated for over a year and I haven't had a single problem with them; it's the most durable way to "paint" your rims

This is a reasonable price - I had my convertible 19" wheels powder coated with Silver Sparkle see photo.. they are really nice , easy to keep them clean and the brake dust does not stick at all...pc is better than painting or chrome, so many more colors are available from DuPont.

The photo really doesn't do justice as the sparkle is not captured really well- it must be camera or the operator:>! but they really look gr8.

There is no downside to powdercoating (if done correctly) aside form a little extra weight. Here is a photo of my stock 19" Sport rims in K51 (Platinum Graphite) to match the body color of my vert

Contact Al's Hubcaps in Mineola, NY (516-742-6755) and tell him that I sent you - he obviously does great work!

im not sure if i wanna drop the $$$ on PCing... whereas painting the caliper yourself is prettay cheap.
