G37S Tires

Hi...I'm going to need to replace my current sport tires with all-season. Any suggestions. I need the tires so I can go skiing.

If you're staying with the stock size, you could try any of the following:

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx A1-A A/S
Yokohama AVID ENVigor
Dunlop SP Sport Signature
Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105
Firestone Firehawk GT

Nokia Tires

I recommend the Nokia WR G2 tires. They have a little more winter tire in them than standard "No Weather" tires. I had a set of Nokia WRs on my 2006 M and went to the WR G2s on my G37x. Highly recommended for winters in Minnesota.

I've got 20" Dunlop Sport Signatures, they've been a great tire thus far in all but deep snow (not that they'd be bad, but haven't had deep snow to try them yet )
They have the 18" staggered sizes for the Sport too. Here's the link (and tirerack is awesome to deal with IME)

I just had the Yoko AVID ENVigors put on today. I have a coupe, so the options in stock size in the all-season category are not many. So far, so good...as they should be this new (lol). All the reviews so far have been really good on these Yokos, and Neal @ Tirerack also gave a good review on these. May want to research this one, too.

not sure what size you are running but you might also want to look into the Continental ExtremeContact DWS...may be on backorder but the wait is worth it

I made the same switch this year, going for the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS which I have been happy with. I'm intending to use them for 3 season work (I have dedicated winter tires also). I have been happy with the handling, ride, and noise during the summer; they have not seen a flake of snow so I have no comment on their performance in those conditions.

Had the stock Goodyears on my last M and now on my wifes M37....very noisy
very expensive and slush/snow/ice performance was not good at all.
Switched to Bridgestone Potenza Poll Positions...still expensive but MUCH
MUCH quieter and much improved mileage and winter performance.
My new G came with Dunlop Sport Maxx's.....even better than the
Bridgestones. Less road noise, as good dry cornering, better winter
performance than the Bridgestones....and priced 25-30% less than
the Goodyears or Bridgestones. Drove my brothers Acura 4wd
TL with Michelins. They are not the cornering road feel champ
and I thought they were noisy. They will wear like iron and
do well in the snow/ice. Good luck

I would suggest the Yokohama W*Drive. They are actually a winter tire, but they are still V speed rated. I have them and they performed well last winter.

Do you plan to get another set of wheels for these tires? I would recommend it. Then you can just switch them before you leave, then again when you get back.

Well...I researched and came to the conclusion that my sport tires are wonderful and I'm changing cars with my daughter for my skiing trip this winter.

Thanks for all your replies and you might find the G37 Tire Test I posted today interesting.

I have the opposite feelings about the 960s. They stick like glue wet or dry but can't handle corners. It is pretty bad when a Volvo can hang with me in the corners. My g37 even has hotchkis sway bars. I'm going with the summer 760s.

Me too! I'm going to stick to my summer tires and borrow my daughter's 4 wheel drive for skiing.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS
DWS = Dry, Wet, Snow = All Season tire. Best snow ratings of any high performance tire.

Here are the Winter tire ratings from TireRack.

The ExtremeContact DW = Dry, Wet = Summer tire

The DW is getting great reviews/ratings at TireRack, particularly on wet roads and in noise/ride comfort. Living in Houston where it rains a lot but only snows once a decade, the DW will probably be my next tire if I go to 245/45/18s.

Either that or the Michelin HydroEdge (if I stay on 225/55/17s) which is the overall highest rated all-season tire on TireRack.
