TPMS Service Kit

I'm new to the G37 and want to ensure i'm up to speed with all the required maintenance items.

I see a TPMS service kit on ebay and the seller mentions that according to OE specs these items must be replaced every time a new tire is put on.

Is this true?

I don't have a factory service manual yet so can't confirm.

Thanks

If you are just putting new tires on, you just put new tires on. That's all. If you are putting on new wheels you just have to transfer the sensors over to the new wheels... No kit is needed. Whatever you are hearing is crap. In some rare cases, you may need to re-sync the sensors. Either the dealer can do it for you or there is a way to do it on your own. See post by Modme.

i think there is some truth to this. There is a small (& cheap) seal that fits on the unit that retains air pressure. I recall this when I bought an extra set of sensors for my winter wheel set. They are supposed to be replaced every 4 to 6? years or else your tires will leak air.

I wouldn't buy on ebay, they are cheap and buy them next time you buy new tires.

I think not, unless you replace the TPMS modules themselves. From what I've read some people have even moved the factory TPMS to different rims and new tires, and they did not need resetting.
Well, ^^ that's what I was going to say, but then I searched ebay to find what you are talking about -- is it this?

TPMS SERVICE KIT 217 FITS MANY INFINITY G37 G37X 07-09 : eBay Motors (item 300417191280 end time May-12-10 1614 PDT)

Honestly, I don't know what that is. It's not the TPMS sensors or the resetting tool. I guess it's what Riley was talking about. Maybe PM one of the tire vendors on this site (eg neal@tirerack).

whoever said you have to replace anything associated with the TPMS every time a tire is changed is smoking crack. Even with new wheels you can just transfer the OEM TPMS and resynch them. So don't buy thay eBay thing, save your money.

And here is a factory manual and all the other manuals for you

You don't need that at all unless something is wrong with your sensors. All that's in the kit are some collars, valve stem caps, needle valves, and gaskets. Those parts don't need replacing unless they aren't working.
