Clear Coat for Polished Aluminum Wheels

Recently, I purchased a set of used 350Z 35th anniversary wheels that were in very good condition for winter use. Initially, I was going to have them powder coated gun-metal, but after reading that the high temperatures used in the process could weaken the aluminum, i have changed my mind. Wanting a different look, I have decided to strip the finish and polish the wheels to a high lustre (this has turned out to be a larger project than I initially thought. The wheels have to be thoroughly sanded, commencing with 220 grit, progressively using finer grits upto 600, to remove the remanents of the grit blasted finish the manufacturer uses to ensure adhesion of the the black primer and hyper silver finish).

My question is, has anyone had any experience with POR 15 Glisten PC clearcoat and if so, was the product as good as claimed by the manufacturer?
