Unfortunately the Tire Rack does not carry them. But If my feeling changed on the LM-60's I would definitely try these tires.

I finally committed to the Pilot Alpin PA2's today. The PA3's and W Drives were my first pick's - but could no longer get any this late in the season through my tire place, so it came down to the Hankook Ice Bears or the PA2's (just wasn't willing to spend another $200 on the WinterSports). The W300's seemed to have a bunch of good reviews, but the PA2's had ton of great reviews from other "spirited" drivers in similar climates, that I just couldn't pass 'em up.

Although I admit the LM60's on my car have gotten markedly better since they've gotten broken in a bit since I first put them on the car a week ago, they're still way too soft and unresponsive for me. I'd probably be ok with them if I was a "normal" driver who drove in a lot of snow, mostly on secondary roads, for a majority of the winter. Forget any high speed blasts on the highway during those nice crisp sunny winter days though - unless you want to scare the crap out of yourself..

Gotta love living in New England - 20 degrees and snowing one day, 50 and sunny two days later.

I routinely hit 90 mph+ on my LM-60 with no issues. I have no idea what you are talking about. Any way hope you like your new tires better.

It's weird - Same cars (except for a coup vs a sedan) with same tires - but two totally different opinions. Sounds like you even drive like I do.

Just to double check to see if the tires had gotten any better since breaking 'em in a bit I came home via the highway tonight - same results... anything over 70ish and the car gets really squishy squirelly loose. Who knows, maybe I got a bad batch or something, but I have got to get these off my car. Glad you like yours though.

I'll keep everyone posted on how I make out with the Alpin PA2's

Maybe you got a bad batch. I've even have these tires slightly over 100 mph on route 287 North by me with no issues at all. I don't take corners with these tires at high speeds. But I'm not brave enough or rich enough to test the cornering ability of any winter tires in my new car.

I wasn't initially going to buy these tires due to some mix reviews. But out all the winter tires i was looking at these were the less expensive and to save a few dollars decided to try them. So far I really love them.

But I'm very interested Yokohama W series tires and we'll keep my eyes on them in case my opinion of the LM-60's.

same here, i hit 90mph+ on a daily basis with these tires. Feels right at home like a fish in water.

I dont take the turns like I would with summer tires but stability has not been an issue. the softer sidewalls are noticeable though.

The Pirelli Snowsports are another good option. I have them on my 335i and have been very happy with them.

I couldn't agree more. I threw the LM-60's on a spare set of stock 19's that I had laying around, and while I can tell the sidewall is a softer compound, I am more than pleased with their performance. And I do take high-speed corners and punch it out of turns; they have better than expected grip and I feel completely in control of my car. On dry pavement, they are certainly a performance compromise over any all-season or performance tire, but they still let me drive my G like a stole it. Keep in mind, however, that I have Eibach Pro Kit springs and Hotchkis sways, so that might be lending a bit to the performance.

I'd imagine that a lower profile 19" in this tire probably would perform better as some of you have mentioned. Like I said though, I don't know if one of these tires had a broken belt or something - but the 225/50/18 LM60's all the way around on my S coupe were horrible, and were simply unacceptable for $800 worth of snow tires.

I got the 245/45/18 Pilot Alpins mounted yesterday - WOW! HUGE difference. They double checked the alignment on the car and it was dead on, so it was definitely the tires. The Alpins are obviously not summer tire handling, but they are completely night and day difference from the Blizzaks. That doesn't even take into account that the Alpins are still green, vs the Blizzaks being broken in now with 600mi's on them. I'll be curious to see how the Alpins do in the snow.
