Brakes noise (maybe)

Anyone else getting a wicked loud "dull" metal on metal screeching sound from the brakes when they are rolling in reverse? Not a squeal but a duller sound (if that makes sense). When I back out of the garage I get it (along with the stares from my neighbors) when I lightly apply the brake while in reverse.

No, but I will say the bigger brakes on the S series (I have a G37S as well) seem to have a lot of pad noise compared to other cars I have owned.

I have the same noise, but it sounds like mine is louder. It's embarrassing to have the noise. I had the dealer look at it and they wrote it off as being caused by the metallic brake pads. Bad answer. Any well designed brake shouldn't make the noise. Let us know if you get them to fix yours.

I'm not sure mine is any quieter, my description of "dull" was more in terms of pitch meaning it isn't a squeal so much as a metallic friction sound (like a bag full of old aluminum baseball bats rubbing back and forth against each other). It is more than loud enough to hear over my stereo with the windows and sunroof closed.

First, nice choice with your G. I have the same colors/options.

How many miles do you have on it? Granted, I only have around 400 miles on mine, but I have no brake noise issue. However, I have read more than a handful of posts about other people having this problem, more so squealing than what you describe though. If you do a quick search, I'm sure you'll find some other posts regarding this.

There is a recall on the 08 pads, but not for the 09. We need a fix for the 09s.

Mine is an early model '09 (mfg. 09-2008). Wonder if they used some leftovers from the 2008 models on the early model '09's.

Did you ever find out if your 2009 was affected?

Per the dealer...try backing up the car as fast as you can (in a safe area), and slam on the brakes. Do this several times to break any glazing on the rotors. From what I can tell, using this method has eliminated the brake noise in my car for now.

Will give it a try BUT mine is doing it in reverse even after driving for hours so not sure "glazing" on the rotors at that point but what the hell it's worth a shot. It's embarassing as is right now.
