Performance tires and wheel package, or not.
Newbie here. I知 about to pull the trigger on a G37 Journey Sedan with Premium package. This will be my first new car I知 confused about the Performance Tire and Wheel Package. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of getting this? I assume handling will improve. How about ride comfort; will it be a harsher ride? Do performance tires have a shorter life? How about if I have to drive this in winter weather and snow?
Can someone point me to online pics showing this stuff?? Thank you!!

I didn't get the Tire and Wheel package because:
* Ugly wheels. This is my main reason. I just wish they made the 17" bigger or simply the 18" that comes with the coupe
* The ride is harsher, specially for anyone in the back
* More road noise
* More expensive for a new set of tires
I seriously considered the package, until I test drove the car and saw it in person ...

If the performance w&t package is the 08 sport rims (which I beleive they are) I think they look great. Much better than the 09 sport wheels. Ride difference will be minimal but you will be getting summer tires most likely. If thats not an issue Id say go for it!

All are good comments above. If you're considering the Sport package to get the wheel tire package, you'll also get the big brakes which are worth it alone since they are massive and stop very well. I was hesitant about going the Sport route due to ongoing tire cost, etc., but I definitely don't mind it now that know how well it handles and brakes with that package. If you just want different looking/size wheels, just get those by themselves.

S package has staggered setup. T&W Package does not. Both T&W Package and S Package come with 18" on the sedan.
jane, I wonder if you even have a sedan?

Sedan 225/55/17 and Performance Tire and Wheel Package 235/50/18 and S package is 225/50/18 front and 245/45R18 rear. Is that right and I'm buying after the first of the year. I'm giving my Nissan to my daughter after the first of the year. I'm hoping to make a good deal in Jan/Feb for cash.

I had the same question when I bought my 09. I had a car reserved, that had the premium tire package. The sales guy had no idea what they were, thought they were "s" wheels and tires. The performace tires had the same tread width as the stock tires. I found and purchased a car with the standard wheels.
If you want an upgrade, I'd suggest you take a good look at the "S" option or get stock wheels and upgrade them with after market wheels and tires of your choice once the rubber is gone. Whatever your choice, I think you'll love the car.

well, the nice thing about the non-S performance tires & wheel package is that the 18" wheels are wide enough to put 245's all the way around if you wanted. I see Merc C230s and BMW 328i's with e 245s and 255s on all foru corners all the time and I get so irritated - why not for the G? I would appreciate a little more grip on all the corners - I don't want skinnies 'n slicks, I want to be able to rotate my performance tires.
