You may be interested in visiting a Canadian site that appears to have conducted independent reviews for snow tires APA.ca. The information may be a year out of date, but it ranks the Toyo Garit KX as the top winter performance tire.

I have used Consumer Reports as a good source of information when making decisions relating to purchases; however, one has to examine how the ratings are determined i.e. the weighting of parameters in the overall score. Strip away some of the parameters that are unimportant to some people and the rating of the item being reviewed may be very different.

To this day I love my LM-60's. To me they do not sound louder than my stock tires and over-all are working well with no issues in the dry or snow.

I have to say that dry traction on LM60 is not good. Put on a brand new set and accelerated to 60 as normal (not aggressive or anything) on a dry 38 deg weather. SLIP light came on twice as I shifted through 3 to 4. A little tap on gas pedal makes the SLIP light flash. Will see how it handles in wet snow.

My quick observations...

Had LM22s on all my other vehicles...Maxima FWD, 03.5 G35 Sedan RWD, 05 G35 Coupe RWD, and they were AWESOME...tried Dunlops one year...hated em. Too soft = too much roll.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the ONLY two tires out there in staggered sizes for 18" wheels that are at least H rated are the Blizzaks & Toyos. I just swapped out the Hankooks, that got very good ratings, b/c after 3 weeks of driving they kept my slip light on at 80 mph if I hammered down....and that was on dry highway pavement. They were only T rated which is 118 or 119, but they were the next closest to H at 130.

These cars really need V rated at 149 for the stiffer sidewall, but only Toyo and Bridgestone make the H rated ad I said...the Michelins are less than H making them obsolete and useless which is why I am shocked they are even being recommended in this thread. The Blizzaks are WAY over priced like all Bridgestone tires, but after having them mounted 2 hrs ago and driving on main roads, side roads, and the Highway I can say the LM 60s, while not as good as my LM22s were on dry roads....are night and day better than the T rated Hankooks were under the exact same conditions. I can now punch it at 80 and no slip light...and these are brand new still...and under NORMAL acceleration from a stop or at 20, 30 or 40 they don't trigger the slip light...at WOT yes, but that's to be expected....and while the light comes on during cornering, it's no where near the feel of the Hankooks for role...and on the highway changing lanes is MUCH better now too.

99.99% of winter driving in N.E. is on dry roads....so that's the biggest thing to me....if they are pretty good in the snow/wet...I will be very happy...

If Michelin makes an H or V rated I would try out...but didn't see that as an option...course they are overpriced too....but if it were THAT much better than the Blizzaks I would try out.

hi guys, I don't know much about tires are my new 08 g37s coupe. Can you tell me what works best for winter driving in VA?

Blizzak lm60 Seems to be love or hate, I'm confused
dunlop sp sport 3d
dunlop sp wintersport m3
michelin pilot sport

Also Yokohama Avid ENVigor -all season lite snow
I'm just driving to work and worried about snow and ice on the commute, 6 miles one way.
