Will switching tires effect my ride?

I have 12,000 miles on my car and it looks like I will need to get new tires probably on my next oil change. I notice we have a tread ware of 140 which means the tires don't last very long. I plan to keep this car at least 3 years and I don't want to replace the tires once a year. If I decide to put on another tire brand like a Nitto which has a treadware of 260 for instance , will the car still ride as smooth? I plan to keep the same wheels and get the same size tire as OEM. Infiniti tells me they test the cars for those tires , and in order to get as smooth a ride I should continue to use the Bridgestone Potenzas. I understand they tell me this in order for me to continue purchasing there tires, but is there any real truth to this. Maybe some of you out there have made the switch, sorry if this is a repost.

Thanks

NO, there are plenty of other tires out there that will give you as smooth a ride or smoother if that's what your interested in. I can vouch that Yokohama S Drives are every bit as smooth and much quieter as well. Much better tread wear too. Your biggest challenge will be to find complete sets in the OEM sizes, it will be a limited amount of choices.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas are smooth riding and fairly quiet as well. Also, they can be purchased on the cheap.

Has anybody on here switched to the Nitto Invos? How many miles have you gotten out of the tires? how many miles can I expect to get out of the tire? and what should I expect to pay and where are you all getting them?

Thanks

You should check out tirerack.com. They have a pretty decent selection of tires for the car, along with treadwear info, reviews, prices And optional sizes. When it's time for me to change, I think I'm going to stick with the potenzas, but get the pole positions in lieu of the stocks. And maybe go wider. The pole positions are supposed to have increased treadwear

I know someone who now has ~ 10k miles and still shows tread left... and I know someone who burned through rears in 4300 miles. it's all in how you treat them.

Invo's are not cheap. you're looking at around 1300 or 1400 for a set of 4.

the pole positions are another variation of our stock tires, only they seem to have higher ratings and longer tread life.

It sounds like you're saying you bought a set of S-Drives Betty..?
If so, what sizes did you go with on front and rear? Looks like on Tire Rack that you can get correct rears (245-40-19) but need to go with 225-35-19 on front. Wouldnt that lower the car a bit? and does it have any affect on speedo accuracy? Or do you need to go wider and maintain diameter?
