Winter Tire Recommendations

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to put a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25s on my 09 G37S Sedan. Has anyone had any experience with these? If so, what were your impressions, and do you know of any better choices for winter tires?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Is it really that important to keep the exact same tire size though? The blizzaks are like the only winter tires available for the staggered tire size, but would it really matter if you were to use the same size tires on the front and rear? I really want some all season tires and there are not any, at all, that are staggered.

I guess you're right in the winter you are probably not hard cornering or handling the car enough to even notice a staggerred setup.

Detroit - Thanks for the info, but I have the G37 sedan, not the coupe, so no 19s for me.

Jeffy - TireRack recommended that I put 225/50R18s on all 4 tires, but after checking the specs, those tires wouldn't fit on the rear rims. The front rims are 7.5 inches wide, but the rears are 8.5, so I'm going to have to go with the stock sizes, but obvi with the winter pattern.

Blizzaks are 1 of the best winter tires, for passenger cars.

What size Alpins did you have on it? I see the 245/45-18s for the rear, but not the 225/50-18s for the front.

You don't want staggered tires for the winter. Have you guys ever noticed that the winter tires on cars are usually skinnier than ther summer tires? That's because a thinner tire makes it easier for the car to get through snow.

John/Shumby - Thanks for the info. I know narrower is better in the snow, but the rear rims on a Sport are 8.5 inches wide; a 245/45 is the narrowest you can put on that. A 225/50 will not go on anything larger than a 8" wheel.

I already ordered my Blizzaks. Considering I went through all of last winter on my summer tires (bad decision), those will be a major upgrade.

Nonetheless, thanks for all of your comments/suggestions.

Hey Comiha22 what tire size did you end up getting because i'm suppose to be picking up my G37S Sedan this friday as well and just need to make sure that i get the correct size so that it fit the rim.

Was it 225/50R18 all around or was it 225/50R18 front and 245/45R18 rear?

Saltfish - Not sure if you have the AWD with Sport, or the straight RWD Sport like me. If so, go with the 225/50R18 Fronts and 245/45R18 Rears. I've been in NY since last Saturday, and am quite impressed with the Blizzaks so far. Snow, slush, light ice - it's all been a breeze. Let me know how it turns out.
